Batman Begins (2005) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

I was not expecting to like so many of the characters in this movie!!

Alfred and Rachel are at the top of my list, they were just fantastic! I also really enjoyed Bruce's arc and how he changed thanks to Rachel and Falcone.

And hearing Hans Zimmer's soundtrack was amazing!!

The different levels of villains was also a treat! I always expect 1 villain per movie, so when there are more, and they're all connected just makes everything better 🤩

Why do we fall, Bruce? 🤩

I'm excited for the next one, I hope you're ready!!

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much for being here and watching along with me!!

Hurray for liking the whole trilogy!!! The cast is absolutely stacked in each film, it's amazing to see the names attached to each one. It's a bummer that Rachel gets a lot of flak, I think she was a really good character, wanting to help Gotham and not backing down.

It seems like this movie really showcased some of the characters very well! It would have been nice if Nolan had made more Batman movies, it seems like the ones he made were well loved. The casting seems spot on for a lot of the characters too! Thanks for all the info :D

Really enjoy this movie and the whole trilogy. Christian Bale and Micheal Caine and Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman are all incredible in their roles. Rachel gets a lot of flak but she needs to play two roles as love interest and moral compass and doesn't get enough time to be either in this movie. Very excited for the Dark Knight!

Sorry about the length of this post. Most of the information is derived from the comics and many or many not relate to other stories in DC media. I liked this one, it was very inspirational to more recent incarnations of Batman. First off I should note that Batman is the true identity and Bruce is just a mask. Batman Begins is heavily influenced by Frank Miller’s Batman Year One( which focuses on the first year of Batman’s fight against crime and the start of his relationship with Jim Gordon). The whole sequence with the Batman using the bats to escape from the GCPD is taken straight from the Batman Year One comic. In the comics the entrance to the Batcave is behind a grandfather clock when the hands are set to 10:48 pm, which is the exact time Bruce’s parents were murdered by Joe Chill, a random mugger with a gun( which explains Bruce’s deep aversion to guns). His father was an extremely gifted surgeon and his mother is a social activist, both used their money to support social causes to benefit the poor of Gotham. If you want to drive this Batmobile among other versions then check out Batman Arkham Knight each Batmobile has a couple of tracks that recreate moments from their respective movies. Alfred Pennyworth is the Wayne family butler and is a father figure and confidant to Bruce so is extremely important to him. Alfred also served as a source of dry wit and humor which has endured him to fans for years. Interestingly, prior to his employment with the Waynes he was a highly skilled British special forces operative. Michael Caine’s portrayal was perfect. Lucius Fox was made more famous due to his appearance in this series with the great portrayal by Morgan Freeman. He usually runs the day to day activities of Wayne Enterprises. He is usually aware of Bruce’s secret life and supports him by obtaining the gadgets that he uses, but doesn’t ask questions as to not be put in a position to compromise Batman if he is captured. Jim Gordon is usually depicted the same, he is a tough, fair and honest cop who wants to make Gotham a better place, among many corrupt and dirty cops. This is set early in Gordon’s career. He is the father of Barbara Gordon ( the original Batgirl). The whole Batman disappearing in the middle of Gordon talking is an extremely common part of the Batman and Gordon relationship and has even become a joke in some Batman media. Rachel Dawes is an orginal character. However she was inspired by several obscure characters, Julie Madison( childhood friend and former girlfriend), Silver St. Cloud( another former girlfriend), and Gilda Dent( wife to Harvey Dent). I actually had to look some of these up because I was unaware of them. She serves as another person that is trying to make Gotham a better place, and she is a potential love interest for Bruce. Ra’s al Ghul is one of Batman’s most troublesome villains. His is one of the few villains that knows Batman’s true identity. His portrayal in this movie is good, but is missing a couple of key parts. He is around 600 years old and he has been keeping himself alive with a special pit of chemicals called a Lazarus Pit, which can bring the dead back to life however it has an extremely minor side-effect of temporary insanity. The more Ra’s uses it the less stable he becomes. He is Batman equal in both physically and mentally causing Batman to have to be creative in defeating him. His usual scheme is usually the same he wants to restore the natural balance to the Earth and then rebuild a utopian society with himself at the helm, even if it means killing billions of people. If Ra’s is killed, it is kinda implied that by the end of the story that his followers have retrieved his body and then take him to a Lazarus Pit which has revived him and that he is sulking and planning anew. He is not one of Bruce’s mentors in the comics, that is something unique to this movie. The relationship is complicated even more by Ra’s daughter, Talia al Ghul who is in love with Bruce and he somewhat reciprocates these feelings and she even bears him a son Damien, who is the current Robin. Ra’s desires an heir to take over the League after his death( or his body has is unable to be revived), but the root of their conflict is the willingness to end a life. Jonathan Crane also known as Scarecrow. He was created in 1941 and has become an enduring villain. In the comics, he was a brilliant professor of psychology at Gotham University with a specialty in fear and phobias. This exterior hides a sadistic man who is obsessed with studying fear. He does not want power, wealth, or influence, but he see others as merely test subjects in his fear experiments. His “fear toxin” , a hallucinogenic drug that shows people their biggest fear and can even be fatal after prolonged exposure and it is kinda a trademark of his schemes. In the Arkham games, he has a Freddy-like glove of syringes to inject his fear toxin into people along with the more standard airborne version. Carmine Falcone is usually a pretty standard mob boss and is head of the mob in Gotham and his depiction is based on Marlon Brando’s character from the Godfather. He is an acquaintance of the Wayne family, but this relationship is purely social in nature. In some comics, he is the illegitimate father to Selina Kyle(Meow!).
