Sherlock S3 E3 "His Last Vow" * FULL LENGTH REACTION

It's time for Sherlock Monday!!

While I love the time slowing down and Sherlock accessing all the information, the episode as a whole felt very different. Almost like the writers changed or something.

There was a lot of talking to explain what the baddie is going to do, whereas usually, we piece things together as the episode goes on.

It felt very different, but I still enjoyed it!! Martin Freeman is simply astounding. From his reactions to his delivery, to his physicality, he is captivating!!

Mary being who she is isn't super surprising, I always had my suspicions due to the damn skip code. Who the hell knows this?! In the end, as long as John Watson is happy, then I'm...

I am very curious to see how this trio(?) will work together next season to figure out wtf is happening. I'm sure Sherlock has learned his lesson with his long exile 🤣

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much everyone for your support, you are the best!!

I didn't know Mads had a brother who was also in the film industry! That's actually really neat though. Maybe that's why they cast her as Mary, she doesn't seem the type so no one would suspect her 🤣

There are definitely a lot of Hitchcock films that I'll watch, I just have to decide which ones I react to and which ones I watch on my own. I don't know anything about his movies, which means it'll be so fun to dive into each of them and discover what they're about (I didn't read what you wrote about the film, because I much prefer not knowing haha) I didn't know Martin Freeman was in the British The Office, then again I haven't see either version of that show haha

In a lot of ways the structure of the episode mirrors the original novel "The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton". They took lots of key points of it, the blackmail letters of an aristocrat lady, Sherlock getting engaged with a maid working in Milvertons house to get access, Milverton being one of the most disgusting human beings ever, Sherlock acting as an intermediary for said Lady and a few others. In the novel Sherlock and Watson were mostly passive observers and not acting themselves. When Watson enters the game (aka the novel begins), Sherlock has almost everything done already and they only break into Milvertons house to steal the letters. While being there they become unvoluntarily witnesses of the murdering of Milverton by the unknown Lady. That's why this episode felt different for me, because there was really not much to do for the duo concerning the main plot. Get to Magnusson, secure (or destroy) Appledore, get rid of Magnusson. By the way, it was really not smart by Magnusson to have no backup of Appledore, as soon as any enemy of his figured that out his life is over. He must have become megalomaniacal (or have been very sure that Mycroft would protect him) to show his hand to Sherlock...🤔 Another (minor) problem for me was that just I can't see Miranda Abbington (Mary) as an elite fighter. She is a good actress, but this is a bit too far fetched for me. A secret agent working with intellectual skills, false identites, hacking even - maybe. But a black-ops elite fighter - no...😅🙈 Fun trivia: They renamed the villain to a scandinavian name when they cast Lars Mikkelsen. He is the older brother of Mads Mikkelsen. I think he did a marvellous job of being disgusting...😀 Another fun trivia: The fake house front of Leinster Gardens in London is real, I stood in front of it myself. You can see the illusion when you walk around to the open backside...😊 And the last, but not least fun trivia: The Holmes' brothers parents are played by Benedict Cumberbatchs real life parents...😊 Thanks for another great Sherlock monday, on to the next...🤩

If you’ve yet to encounter it, Martin Freeman is quietly extraordinary in the original British version of The Office. There’s a tenderness to his performance - an aching sincerity beneath the wit - that makes the entire series shimmer. Now it’s time for another shameless plug for Rebecca… And now that you’re perhaps stepping into Hitchcock’s moody catalog, please don’t overlook Rebecca. It is, quite simply, the film of my heart. While it did win the Best Picture Oscar in 1940, its accolades are only the scaffolding for something far more intimate and personal. As I was growing up, I found myself in its unnamed heroine - not just her trembling uncertainty or shadowed grace, but the way she carried her insecurities, fragile, yet with quiet strength. In her, I saw a mirror of my own shy and introverted personality. It’s a ghost story, murder mystery, and romance movie all tied together. Whispers fill the halls - Manderley remembers her, never quite alive.
