John Wick (2014) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

The stunts and combat scenes are just amazing🤩🤩🤩

This was a rollercoaster.. I started out liking the movie, then definitely did NOT like the movie, then really enjoyed the movie.

I love the world, I love the stunts and action scenes and just how different they are from what I've seen before.

I'm really pumped for more... and the pencil, hopefully! 😅🤣

So many great characters that I hope we see again 😊

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much for being here and watching along with me!!

I couldn't do this without you <3

John Wick (2014) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Comments

Oh and how could I forget Mad Max! You could either start with Fury Road and Furiosa, or watch the original trilogy first, but I think the newer movies are better and more likely to get views (The Road Warrior is an undeniable classic tho, that might be the exception).

Finally getting to these reactions (June has been a busy month for me), very excited to see you react to this brilliant series. This first one is interesting because it’s very slick but also has a somewhat gritty indie film vibe. It’s fun to remember the days John Wick wasn’t a massive multimedia franchise, but a relatively low budget action movie that slipped under most people’s radar. I remember seeing it in the cinema without knowing quite what to expect, and being delightfully surprised that it was so damn good. I’ve always thought of this franchise as sort of the younger cousin to The Matrix franchise, as there’s a surprising amount of connective tissue between the two, beyond just Keanu himself. From the directors having gotten their big break as stunt coordinators on the matrix sequels, to the melding of east and west action styles into something new and iconic, to even some other castmembers in smaller parts like the Keymaker as the doctor, and the main upgraded agent in Reloaded as one of the few people who capably holds his own against Wick. Speaking of The Matrix, you asked about other franchises you should watch, and I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t mention that I still hope to see you finish The Matrix films soon. I just rewatched Resurrections this past week, and it remains one of the best and most culturally relevant blockbusters of this decade. I would also love to see you react to the Fast and Furious films, those don’t get enough credit imo, at least for how good some of them are (I don’t love them all but I do love the series as a whole). Final Destination would be fun with the (fantastic) new film making them relevant again. The Planet of the Apes reboot series (Rise/Dawn/War/Kingdom) is also fantastic. If you like horror comedies I’d also recommend the Happy Death Day films, which we recently, finally, got confirmation that the long awaited third film is officially happening. I think you also mention in the video continuing the Alien franchise, and I hope that will include Prometheus and (my personal favourite Alien sequel) Alien: Covenant. I would hate to see yet another reaction channel overlook those in favour of the (overrated, uninspired) Alien: Romulus.

I also found out that there's a TV series called The Continental. I probably won't react to it though. I'm excited about the other movies!! 🤩

Aside from what happened to Daisy, I loved the film! That part was not cool at all, and a very quick way to get us wanting revenge 🤣 If he did commercials after 2006, that's definitely not where I've seen him. The tag line also does not ring a bell at all 😅 Oh wow, thanks for the info about the gun, that's really admirable that they made sure to add that detail! That's the kind of research that I want for movies, even if I won't notice it, I'm sure people who are aware of it really appreciate it lol James Bond movies would be fun, it's a pretty big franchise though 😅

Verowak

I've seen some clips of the Heath Ledger one (the second one, I think), but it would probably be good to watch all three in their entirety lol Hurting innocent beings is so infuriating!!!

Yeah I'm finishing this one before starting the next one. I also will be continuing the Alien franchise soon ish. Riddick could be neat, I remember the title "Pitch Black" because my mom would sometimes say "Pitch Dark" instead. I think we were thinking of renting it when I was younger, but we never did haha

All the John Wick movies are great. Can't wait for the next one.

This was a fun reaction. I knew you'd *HATE* what happened to Daisy, but you seemed to enjoy the movie overall. 😁😁😁 Dean Winters (the actor who plays Viggo's lawyer and right-hand man) has been in a *ton* of commercials for Allstate insurance (with the tag line "Protect yourself from mayhem. Like me."). That may be where you've seen him before. The John Wick films tend to pride themselves on firearm accuracy. They never have a gun shoot more bullets than it can hold without showing it being reloaded. There's even a scene where John is shown performing a strange cocking move after reloading a gun. The specific model of gun he's using in that scene has a tendency to jam when reloaded, and John is checking to make sure that it hasn't jammed. He only does this check when he's using that specific model of gun. This is never explained in the actual movie, but that's the level of detail they followed when making these movies. As for a new series to start, the James Bond movies are fun.... 😁

Same here. I think they've been weighted down to trying too hard to generate the same interest as the first one. For me, the first one was enough of the world-building for me.

Miles E Coburn

I love this one, Vero! 🐾 The sequels have all been fine but they don't really appeal to me for some reason. Everyone else seems to really love them, so I hope you will, too.

AuntVes

The Dark Knight trilogy if you haven’t seen them already. That puppy in the beginning was sooooo cute. Hurting dogs always evokes something primeval in me 🤬🤬🤬. If you can hurt a puppy you aren’t human!

Good franchise to get into, I say wrap this one up before starting another. I would recommend the Riddick series ( pitch black, chronicles of Riddick, and riddick) Ian mcshane has been in a ton earliest I remember him in is battle of brittain, great period show I think he truly shines in is deadwood, quick 3 seasons and a movie wrap up, spectacular western. I laughed out loud when you said "hope it's not a foe" knowing it was Willem Dafoe hahahhaa

Bubba Fett

Yes!! His intro was amazing, there are so many unique things about this film 🤩

Verowak

Such a great movie, the introduction to John and who he actually is, is one of my favourite protagonist introductions in film, its just so different to the way it's usually done.
