The Book of Eli (2010) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Thank you for this reactr request!!

This was so different from what I could have expected. Here I am going in, thinking it's just about Denzel having to survive, but it's so much more!!

The cinematography was really nice, plus the silhouette battle is exciting.

Denzel meets Gary Oldman. I didn't know there was a movie that had this, but I'm glad it does. Gary Oldman is also such a joy to watch, and I want to see more of him.

I hope you all enjoy The Book of Ellie 😏🤣

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much for being here and watching along with me!!

I couldn't do this without you <3

The Book of Eli (2010) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Comments

WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS One thing I really, really, dig is that as much as this focuses on Eli's and the King James Bible, in the end, it isn't an inherently "We just need Christianity" film because the Book is placed right there with copies of the Torah and the Quran (with Arabic Text, no less), and nothing at all indicating any degree of value or importance between them. It was only the greedy, manipulative, power-hungry guy who placed the Bible above everything else. The place to which Eli's "voice" and his faith guided him placed it equally with other religious texts in a library meant to educate on a wide variety of subjects. It was the open-minded, broad thinkers who deserved the book because they understood it's true value. Absolutely wonderful.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Definitely during editing I'll check out all the clues. That's the only fun thing about editing 😅 Who is the other actor that you've sorted your Bluray collection?

Verowak

Yeah, I don’t think I’ve seen him in anything playing a meek character. Personally I thought The Bone Collector was a great movie

James Hadden

The only movie I can think of where Denzel plays a 'weaker' character is The Bone Collector (1999) where he plays a paraplegic former detective who partners with Angelina Jolie to solve some murders. Not a great movie, but one I enjoy

Benjamin Bradtke

I go through phases of narrating what I’m doing or thinking out loud.

James Hadden

This was a really enjoyable rewatch, thanks for your entertaining reaction. Great visuals, music and lots of really interesting characters. Samuel has saved me lots of typing regarding Eli being blind, but yeah, it’s a fun rewatch spotting all of the clues with that in mind, or perhaps editing Vero in your case? Denzel is one of only two actors of whom I have sorted my Bluray collection (grammar check?). The rest are just randomly placed on my shelves, with the exception of animated and horror genres.

James Hadden

Great job. I'm glad I became a member. BTW, I live alone in the woods of Washington state, have for 10 years and I ended up narrating my life out loud, ;)

Cat Indigo

I'm glad you had fun revisiting it!! I honestly didn't clue in that he was blind lol I honestly just thought the last copy of the book was braille, so he learned to read it 😅 Thanks for that!!

A long time ago is 2010 😭🤣

Verowak

Hahaha yes!! Such a great joke lol

I hope you enjoyed it this time around too!

I really like this movie, its very underrated in my opinion. Its such a cool story and Denzel does such a great job. On rewatching it you start to see the clues to him being blind, even tho they still give us a couple of shots to make sure he seems like he can see, but for example when he searches people he doesnt look at them, he feels for the shoes or what ever is on them, he never shoots or hits first unless something makes a noice first, and i think the sound design does a great job as well, especially in the first act when not much is going on and we are focused on Eli, many sounds are drowned out so we can hear more of the small details happening closer to him. Oh and yeah, ofc the use of shadows and backlighting in some of the scenes is awesome. Anyway, glad you liked it, was fun to revisit this.

Ooh, I saw this a long time ago In the before-fore time.

Mannygogou

We must have a similar sense of humour - we made the same Ellie joke 😁

James Hadden

I've been wanting to re-watch this movie for a while, just been waiting for someone to react to it.
