The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 2 (2025) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

And things are getting more real than real!

I just.. have no words for this episode.

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

The Last of Us Season 2 Episode 2 (2025) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

I'm really going to have to try my best to play the games once I finish this season, though I hear it's been renewed for a third season, so Part 2 may have to wait until Season 3 is out haha

Well so yeah, overall still enjoying this a lot, some changes I still dont understand as they are (so far at least) completly unnecessary and only deny us some improtant moments from the games ( for example who goes on patrol with who and what happens there, I wont say any more in case you are able to play the games someday). Joels death is handled quite well, even tho if I remember correctly it was actually a bit more brutal in the game then just a stick to the neck at the end. I know a lot of people hate Abby but I mean as much as I love Ellie and Joel, she was quite justified in what she did (in the world they life in at least). I hope the changes they made will make more sense in later episodes, if not than I really dont understand the choices. :D Anyway excited for next week, lets see where this goes!

Yeah I was pretty sure it was Ashley Johnson. I didn't read anything about the game since I'm hoping to be able to play it after I finish the Fallout games that I can play. I just know that there was so much hate and outrage when TLoU part 2 came out, and I know why now (at least for part of the outrage). It would be interesting if TLoU part 1 started with Abby, and we got to see her story first, THEN see Joel. I bet a lot of people who hate Abby would be on her side from that perspective lol

I'm glad you "enjoyed" this episode. It seems you just need more action and less set up (at least, that's how I see the first episode, it was setting things up for us) lol

Which leads to more hurt people that will hurt people. Someone will have to break the cycle!

Ashley Johnson, the woman who was singing at the end, is the actor and voice for Ellie in the games, she does actually sing that same song in one of the pre-release trailers for the game. Yea this was the moment that really split the player-base in 2. In the game, which is about 20-30 hours in total playtime on average, it was around the 2 hour mark where this happens, so really early on in the story, and it seems like that's the case here. A lot of people theorized they would save this for the end of the season to give more time to time to flesh out Abby and her crew before realizing what her goal was. At least in that simplest sense, I think that would've been a more effective way to get viewers to be more on Abbys "side" of things. Going off of a lot of the reactions of this and when people were first exposed to it in the game, majority of the base were fully invested more in Ellie than Abby which made it difficult to truly sympathize with her unless they stuck out through the whole thing. And I know of a lot of people who did genuinely drop the game and didn't pick it up again after that scene, missing out on the rest of the 20 hours or so. It's a REALLY risky narrative choice and structure, and is almost entirely dependent on you to basically see it all the way to the end even if you don't really want to for whatever reason that may be. I guess I'm more in the camp of disagreeing with the style of it but that doesn't mean I don't recognize how bold it really is, it just didn't quite execute it in a way that was really impactful, for me of course. But if others can find the potential in it that I just haven't been able to agree with, then that's great and it's awesome to see people who deep dive into it really well.

I like all of your reasoning here

Well that’s more like it, I really “enjoyed” this episode and am excited to see where we go from here. The one big spoiler I’m sure most people knew is out of the way early so I can watch with surprise going forward. I have no clue how closely they will follow the game this season (of which I know nothing further about), but my guess is the characters would need to be divided up into small groups or Ellie solo for stealth gameplay, so let’s see. Looking forward to next week.

I totally understand Abby’s reasoning, however it’s the humiliating and painful death that makes me angry. Joel didn’t torture any fireflies. One thing I picked up on though, in the first episode is that her crew didn’t seem to understand the “why” of what Joel did. They mention something about a rumor not being true but don’t actually go into it. If that’s the case then from their point of view Joel is just a mindless mass murderer who killed them for no reason. It makes me empathize with her position a little better, but that still doesn’t mean I like it! If she in fact knew the true “why” then I have much less understanding and sympathy for her actions. I’d like to think that if one of my family members were to operate on/kill a kid to save the world that I would understand the parents of that kid wanting to kill my family member to save their child, just on a purely primal level.

Thanks, Vero. 🧟‍♀️ Like the old saying goes, "hurt people hurt people". 🫂
