Groundhog Day (1993) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Thank you Carl for this reactr request!

Edit: Well this is embarrassing, it seems I forgot to link the actual reaction 🀣 I hope you actually enjoy it now πŸ˜‡

I understand why so many people I know said that I would love this... there's a time loop!!!! 🀩🀩

I will say, having seen Scrooged recently, Phil Connors goes through a very similar change as Frank Cross.

What would you do if you were reliving a day over and over again?

A sweet movie, and it made a lot more sense when I realized her name was Rita πŸ˜… Some times I pick up small details that help me figure things out, other time I completely miss obvious things 🀣

I love seeing movies that deal with time issues/skips/travel, it's such a fun creative exercise to think of things like that.

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much everyone for your support, you are amazing!!

Groundhog Day (1993) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

I saw "Edge of Tomorrow" shortly after it came out :( I always forget that Tom Cruise is in it, I mostly remember Emily Blunt haha

Verowak

Classic movie, there's a Tom Cruise movie "Edge of Tomorrow" in same vein (time loop) but is high action. Very good movie too.

Horoldo

My pleasure Tom, I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Also I'm glad you missed who Rita was haha, I feel like they only said her name once or twice in the first half of the movie lol

Verowak

P.S. I also missed who Rita was my first viewing! It's a forgettable name I guess... :)

Tom

Thanks Vero - loved watching your reaction! Also, your entire production, from filming, sound, lighting and editing, to your fun commentary, is very impressive. Groundhog Day really is a fav of mine, it hits on so many levels for me and the humor is great too. Thanks again!

Tom

Remembering everything about everyone sure would take a really long time! And it's not like he's cramming to remember everything in order to impress someone, he's done it gradually by getting to know them all.

There have been many theories on how long Phil lived in the time loop. Some have suggested several decades considering how much time it would have taken him to learn everything about everyone in the town, all the talents he masters, when to know of certain events, etc. Some have even suggested 10,000 years but 40 years has been the average guess. This movie has become a classic not just as a comedy/romance but there are a lot of underlining themes in the film you might not notice unless you watch the movie a number of times. When you think about it Phil is like Dante being taken through Hell by Virgil, in Phil's case the town becomes his personal hell that he can't escape from but like Dante his hell becomes his "paradise" and both Dante and Phil find their true love.

Robert Durant

I second this. "Palm Springs" is a great variation of the time loop theme...😊

He just gave that kind of energy 🀣

Verowak

Didn't like Ned on his first appearence yet you predicted his saying. Now that's a Doosie. lol

hfs jfc

lol, did he say like 6 to 9 months or something? Also he mentioned he saw that movie like a hundred times... and normally that would just be a joke, but maybe not! πŸ€¨πŸ˜†

Mannygogou

Filming the same day over and over again is a very different style of filming. It would be all over the place timeline wise though haha

Verowak

I wonder how long before people catch on 🀣 Though it would be neat if they could add scenes in that were left on the cutting room floor.

Verowak

Nice! Its a good watch imo

jim Howe

🀣I feel like I'll be the same way when "I got you babe" plays!

Verowak

All I can think of is Phil's description of the day he wishes he could be repeating instead of February 2nd 🀣 I've never heard of "Palm Springs" before, thanks for the rec!

Verowak

It's amazing! I bet rewatches are just as good because you can pick up things that you missed on previous watches

Verowak

I love how he casually said how long it would take her to master the card trick lol He would know, he did it!! 🀣

Verowak

Sadly I saw Edge of Tomorrow shortly after it came out lol

Verowak

I was always interested in the way they filmed this. So many scenes would just need one setup and then they do them back to back progressing through time. I think I read somewhere that Bill Murray would just ask if he was suppose to be good Phil or bad Phil. It's a great and fun movie, Glad you did it.

Scott Howard

They should announce a sequel. But then it's just this re-released. And then if they have it as a back to back feature, it's the same movie, over and over again.

OrangeLion

I love this movie, I'm glad you liked it. It really has became a timeless classic. Since I first saw this movie I can't listen to "I got you babe" anymore and everytime I hear it somewhere, I'm immediately back in Punxsutawney with Bill Murray...πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ

silverarrow06

OK, so another film I'd suggest is 'Palm Springs' (2020).

jim Howe

My favorite movie of all time!

Hunter DeRensis

So she has. Cool. And 100% yes to that recommendation!

jim Howe

She has seen β€œLooper” (there’s even a YouTube edit for it). I don’t think she’s seen β€œEdge of Tomorrow β€œ yet, so that’s one to keep in mind.

Laxjedi

Oh sweet, I look forward to seeing this! It's a film worth revisiting every 5 years πŸ™‚ because some of the things make even more sense lol... Maybe for example how long does it take to learn ice sculpture? The card in the hat... how long did he say that you have to practice? He said something in passing... πŸ˜†

Mannygogou

Lmfao.. what a profile picture

jim Howe

If you liked this, and you haven't seen it already... 'Looper' (2012) is a must watch!

jim Howe

Right on. Thanks for this.
