Fallout 1x01 (2024) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Okey dokey, here we go!

I love the introduction to all of the characters! They are so different and I can't wait to see them meet up.

Having played a couple of hours of Fallout Shelter, I'm definitely an expert at everything Fallout related 🤣

I love just how different the dwellers are compared to the raiders. We also have the Brotherhood of Steel, the Enclave and... The ghoul 😁 My biggest issue is hearing Jinx whenever Lucy speaks 🤣

A stacked team is producing this series, and I'm really excited for more. Though I do hope that there are a lot of original compositions by Ramin Djawadi peppered throughout 🥰

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much everyone for your support, you are amazing!!

There is a movie called The Full Monty about men stripping

Cat Indigo

I don't know what the joke is. Maybe it's not a well known one? 🤔

Verowak

Why did no one ever make the Full Monty joke

Cat Indigo

I'm so bummed that the first episode didn't draw you in. It's true that not every series or movie is for everyone. Maybe you just need series that are fast paced and have things happen every few minutes?

I’m sad! The only Fallout game I’ve played is 4 and I really enjoyed it. When I heard about the show it really piqued my interest, but then saw the trailer and thought it wasn’t for me. Having seen that you started the show I decided I should give it a go. The opening scene had me very hopeful, and I happily recognised lots of things from the game, but that was it, I quickly lost interest. I’ve heard great things about the show from fans of the games and people new to it alike. It should be something I’d enjoy, but I honestly thought it was a terrible opening episode to a show. I didn’t think it was funny, nor particularly intriguing, it just dragged on. I’m really not sure what’s wrong with me. I’ll give it a day or so and decide whether to see if episode 2 works any better for me.

I'm so excited for this new world!!! The voice for the Ghoul stood out to me, though it's slightly different from the beginning. The accent helped a lot!! I hope there are a lot of easter eggs from the first and second games, so I can notice them!

Verowak

Ooh you just recently watched it too!! Did you enjoy the first two games? I'm curious to learn more about how everything works on the surface (brotherhood, enclave, raiders... other?) I hope for many more seasons since this is shaping up to be great fun

Seeing as Jonathan Nolan is a big fan of the game, it must have been amazing for him to be able to create this!! I don't know much about the 1950s, so any reference to that decade will be mostly lost on me 😅 But it's great that it's included! I don't think I've seen Walton Goggins in anything 🤔So far he's done well (in the brief intro we had for him lol) I'm really excited to see these characters meet up eventually and see what happens! Lucy being out of the vault will be quite a change 😁

Verowak

I'm already hooked!! :D

To quote Obi-Wan: "You've taken your first step into a larger world." What a great first episode, I'm glad you liked it 😀 One of the things the series was praised for was how good it was at being accessible for new fans as well as people who were already familiar with the Fallout universe and I think that's pretty true. Looking forward to joining you on this journey through the wasteland! You twigged who the Ghoul was much quicker than I did by the way!

I was totally like you when this show came out. I heard it was good but I just wasn't that interested and I finally watched it last week. I only ever played the first two games. I ended up loving the show after I finally gave it a shot. As I understand it Fallout takes place in an alternative timeline so the scene in the beginning when the bombs first went off was 2077 which is shown on a chalkboard in Lucy's intro. I guess they just never aesthetically changed after the 50s. Imagine a timeline that never got to experience hair metal or grunge! I was a little confused about a few things when I watched but I will tell you without spoilers of course! The Vault Lucy is from is a part of three interconnected Vaults 31/32/33, my assumption is that they're set up like a triangle with each vault being connected to the other two. I thought the Enclave was part of the Brotherhood but I guess its its own thing. Anyway this show is a lot of fun. Should be a good time.

Watching your reaction is going to be an interesting experience. I've played all Fallout games up to Fallout 4. You will anticipate the show in a totally different way than me...😊🤔 I can't describe how happy it made me every time when I discovered a detail from the game in this show. You mentioned easter eggs for gamers - the whole show is a huge easter egg. It is as if Jonathan Nolan took a camera and ventured off into the wasteland...💖🤩 What I love about this show the most is that it doesn't deny it's video game origins. It relies to video game logic in many ways. People flying around like rag dolls when punched, thrown or shot, syringes that heal a severe stab wound with one injection, Lucy leveling up from room to room she passes and so on. My favorite over the top moment was the pregnant(!) woman with a fork in her eye shooting a machine pistol - so violent, but so cool...🤯😂 Lucys introduction is the perfect depiction of the "skill choice" screen at the beginning of a game, when you create your character...🤩 The technicolor look and the old 50ies songs are an integral part of the games' ambience. This and the fact that it is retro futuristic (meaning their timeline split from "ours" somewhere around WWII to early 50ies and developed differently) makes it very unique. The pre-apocalyptic world and the Vault are looking like a 50ies commercial for a golden future. Despite it's very high gore factor the show never loses it's (wonderfully absurd and dark) sense of humor. It's a stark contrast to the usual apocalyptic story like "The Last of Us" or "The Walking Dead", that come very bleak, dark and in washed out colors. With "The Last of Us", "Arcane" and "Fallout" we got three excellent video game adaptations in the last four years - the curse seems broken...🙌🏻 And they're so different: "TLOU" simply retells the story of the game, "Arcane" borrows characters and lore to create its own world and "Fallout" adapts the games world and tells a new story with new characters in it. "Pinko" is a slur used in the 50ies in the U.S. for people that where accused of being communists. The show reflects on the peak of the communist "witch hunt" under McCarthy, where you could accuse everyone you didn't like or wanted to get rid of of being a communist and the person was "cancelled", as we would say today...🤔 The social commentary in this show is the other thing that made me fall in love with it instantly...💖 The third reason why I fell in love with this show was the casting. Walton Goggins is always a safe bet, I love how he plays ambiguous characters. Aaron Moten (Maximus) surprised me the most - the emotional range he went through during his interrogation scene impressed me so much. His character is very intriguing, I couldn't get a grip on him for a while. Third - you could rename this show in "Everybody loves Lucy". Before, I only ever knew Ella Purnells voice through "Arcane", now I can't only hear Jinx when she talks, I can also easily see her as a slightly older live-action version of Jinx with blue hair and long braids...😍 The Jinx-effect will wear off over time - soon you'll only see and hear Lucy. Lucys vault is indeed in Santa Monica. You can read it on a billboard in the sand in front of the vault entrance. The ferris wheel is on Santa Monica pier. Honcho also tells the ghoul that Moldaver is in California and Cooper is in the beginning very obviously in greater L.A., you can see Griffith Observatory and all. Last but not least something I noticed in Moldavers behaviour: 1) She looked really pissed when Lucys dad said: "They [the surface dwellers] need to be shown a better way." This didn't sit well with me, too. For someone out of touch with the rest of the world for over 200 years, they're sitting on a mighty high horse.🤔 2) She made Lucys dad choose who to save and who to kill - but when they tranq'd him she doesn't kill the others, instead she let them run off, using the bomb only to cover her retreat. 🤔 That was a great start, can't wait for the next episode and your reaction...🤩🙋🏻‍♂️
