Ghostbusters (1984) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Thank you to our Marble winner Jonathan S. for this movie!!

I remember seeing the giant marshmallow thing (which I thought it was the Pillsbury Dough Boy, since I had never heard of Mr. Puft) and having no idea what they hell it would be doing in a ghost movie. So I thought it was from a parody of Ghostbusters 🀣

I love the comedy in this, and Rick Moranis was fabulous! I completely felt for Dana being polite around him, I've been in that position and it's just tricky to manoeuver πŸ˜…

Knowing that some of the actors were also the writers, makes it just that much more fun! Though it seems like there wasn't much acting needed lol

I'm curious to hear if you liked the sequels!

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much everyone for your support, you are amazing!!

Ah, I had no idea any of them were on SNL. SNL isn't really a thing that I ever watched, I just know of its existence. It makes sense why they were in mind though!

Verowak

I'll definitely look that up, thank you!

Verowak

Well. This is definitely a spirited movie.

This was a fun reaction. Glad you liked it. Bill Murry, Dan Akroyd and Eddie Murphy were all regular cast members on Saturday Night Live, which is why the roles of the Ghostbusters were written with them in mind. Eddie Murphy declined the role due to scheduling conflicts (he was making Beverly Hills Cop at the time). Just in case you were wondering where you'd heard the names before....

When you enjoy the Ghostbusters' theme song by Ray Parker Jr., listen to the earlier (by a year) Huey Lewis song "I Want a New Drug" (especially the bassline). In a 2004 article for Premiere magazine, the filmmakers admitted to using the song "I Want a New Drug" as temporary background music in many scenes. They also noted that they had offered to hire Huey Lewis and the News to write the main theme but the band had declined. The filmmakers then gave film footage, with Lewis's song in the background, to Parker to aid him in writing the theme song.

I had never really heard about Ghostbusters 2, unlike Aliens or Terminator 2. Those ones are very well known, so I assumed that Ghostbusters 2 wasn't as well received in general

Verowak

It's such a smart comedy!

I'm so glad you liked it!!!! 🀣 I had fun with the intro

Verowak

Best intro EVER!!! πŸ˜‚ And of course amazing reaction as always!!!

One of my favorite comedy movies ever.

This movie was a lot a fun in day, but it is a great example of bad sequels. Sometimes you just can't repeat the magic. I wouldn't say that about Toy Story though. I thought toy story 2 was on par with the original.
