Suggestions for the next poll!

The next movie poll theme will be: 1 location films

Basically I'm looking for movies that predominantly take place in 1 location, like 12 Angry Men. The movie takes place in one room (with the exception of a small introductory scene in the courtroom, and the end scene where the men leave the courtroom).

Please suggest up to 2 movies each (you can put both suggestions in 1 comment), and I will put all of the suggestions in a spreadsheet and randomly choose about 8 to be put into a poll later this month.

If you suggest more than 2 movies, none will be entered. If two people suggest the same movie, the movie will simply appear in the spreadsheet twice. I'm doing this so you don't have to worry about looking at all the previous suggestions to make sure it hasn't been suggested before.

I don't know how many movies fit this criteria, but saying "this movie takes place one planet/country/city" is not valid for a single location. Single location examples: 1 room (12 Angry Men), 1 house (Clue) , 1 coffin, 1 street corner, 1 restaurant, etc.

I have someone that will be checking to make sure the movies fit the criteria before they are put into the poll, since I'm not going to look up what the movie is about to make sure 🤣

I'm hoping there are more than 8 movies that meet this criteria. I mean, there has to be!

This might be a tough ask, so if it's too difficult to find movies, please let me know and I can change the theme of the poll.

Comments

+1 for Deathtrap.

Chris Gronau

"The Last Castle" (2001) - Robert Redford / James Gandolfini "Phone Booth" (2002) - Colin Farrell

Spiret Nightveil

I'll get my person to look into it, in case no one on here comments on this :)

Verowak

I'll say "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's nest" (1975) which takes place in a mental hospital but it does have one scene where they escape briefly, so I'm not sure if that kills the "1 location". Same with my second entry..."Dead Calm" (1989) where they are predominately on a boat, but a second boat also has some scenes, so I'm probably "0 for 2" with these suggestions! This is tough!

DHC Len

"Deathtrap" (1982) and "The Hateful Eight" (2015)

Brian

I have seen it, and Knock qualifies. At least to me. This was one I was debating about. I eventually decided on different movies, but I definitely loved the....... ... the um... There are some problems resolving why I agree with you without spoiling the movie. You are right, "Knock" would be a great "1 location film". And I hope someday you enjoy it.

Richard Flores

I've never heard of those, so I'll get my source to check lol

Verowak

Gonna go with a couple movies I haven’t seen but would like the excuse to get around to: Knock at the Cabin (2023) and Mass (2021).

Razor Bikini

Dial M for Murder (1954) Dog Day Afternoon (1975)

Carl Evans

I'd like to think it fails the 1-room location test but it passes the "street intersection" test where there could be neighbors across the street. Hitchcock is playing with the sub-genre and cracks it by using a window.

Mannygogou

"One Location" is a little trickier than you might think.

Scott Howard

I'm liking the Poseidon Adventure

Mannygogou

I will accept that. You see Hitchcock is a tricky guy and he twists the genre fooling almost everyone... "almost everyone" lol 😊 🙂 spoiler 🙂 possible 🙂 spoiler 🙂 The title is "Rear Window" not "Single Bedroom Apartment" If we close the rear window then he's in a single room - Qualifies But for example if there is a sad lady and a musician in the story then we're talking about separate buildings - Qualification not as clear The test is if we close the window. If we close the window then there's no story. The title is Rear Window because the story and the world is out there in all its glory. Swing wide o' those windows! 🙂

Mannygogou

OK, I think both my ideas will be rejected but that’s OK. I’m gonna make them anyway. First would be the African queen (1951). I started with another suggestion but I decided it was really a stretch so I've changed it to this one. Heaven Knows, Mr Allison (1957). I think the majority of each movie takes place in one location .

Scott Howard

Ready or Not (2019) Non-Stop (2014)

Matt Peralta

I would think Rear Window qualifies. Minor Spoiler, but something Verowak probably doesn't want to see: the camera never leaves the apartment.

Chris Gronau

+1 for Rear Window.

Chris Gronau

When googling "1 location films" Rear Window shows up near the top, so I would say it counts lol

Verowak

The man from earth [2007] Cool little sci-fi that all take place in a single location.

Ashley

Fantastic! I gotta look up where I can stream it. But I too would be happy to own it. Let me look right now.

Mannygogou

I'm not sure Rear Window qualifies... Maybe yes/no? What do you think?

Mannygogou

Both good movies; I specifically bought “My Dinner with André” so I could watch it again!

curious cat

Rear Window (Alfred Hitchcock) and The Breakfast Club (John Hughes).

Trey Williamson

You got yourself that time 😊😄 Moon definitely fits the theme. It might be in-between a house and a restaurant 🙂 as far as I can remember. Let's hope people will come up with great suggestions!

Mannygogou

1. Buried (2010) 2. Phone Booth (2002)

silverarrow06

That's a bit of a tough one for me, only one I can think of is 'Inside Man', but I'm not sure if it fits the criteria.

jim Howe

I feel like some people are basically going to be saying "Moon WILL be watched at some point.. or else!" 🤣

Verowak
