The Matrix Reloaded (2003) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

This movie reaction is brought to you by one of our Producers!!

Continuing the dive into the Matrix, we join Neo, Morpheus, Trinity and friends in an epic adventure full of confusion and amazing action sequences!

I think I'm confusing myself by not believing what people are saying in this movie 😂 I feel like I don't trust what people say, even though they are saying what they believe to be the truth.

I like to think at the end of the series, it'll make a lot more sense and I'll know who was right and who was bluffing/just saying things to control others.

I really do love seeing how some people believe in "the One" whereas others don't. Seeing Lock prepare for battle without believe in "the One", is really interesting because so many others believe and are going to potentially weaken their defenses in order to hopefully get Neo to stop the war.

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  Also know there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

The Matrix Reloaded (2003) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Comments

I remember everyone doing the bullet dodging in school, so I knew of it lol! I think that makes a lot of sense, it's always very difficult for sequels to hold up to the first movie, especially when it makes such a breakthrough and has such an impact. There's no way to have that same feeling when watching the sequels, since it's more of the same, just elaborating on the story. I love knowing what movies people love, and this one is so unique and original, it'll stand the test of time!

The Matrix is my all time favorite film. I've watched it more times than I can count. I love watching it with friends who haven't seen it or who never really understood it. It was a breakthrough, cinematically, with the development of "bullet time," which is now an industry standard, but was also deeply philosophical with hidden meanings and easter eggs sprinkled generously throughout the film. I'm an extreme fan of the first film. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed all of the sequels and think they expanded upon the ideas of the first, continued the story in interesting ways and truly don't deserve the hate they get. I think one of the reasons people hate on them is a viewer bias coming from the very fact that the first was so much of a breakout and breakthrough film. It was so new and so fresh and so absolutely unlike anything that had been done before that it blew people away. No subsequent film could really do that and unfortunately all the Matrix films came out in an era long past Star Wars. We'd already been inundated with science fiction movies and special effects and that sort of thing had entered the zeitgeist long ago. So, where Star Wars was, as my father put it "Everything he'd ever wanted from a science fiction movie," The Matrix was, in the end, just an amazing movie among a slew of science fiction films. The following films would never have the same punch to them that the original did: originality.

I like that head canon!

Head Canon: In the fight scene with all the Agent Smiths, the cgi was bad because Neo was moving so fast and bending the rules of the matrix, it couldnt render him. So he appeared low res.

With a lot of sequels etc. They are trying to catch lighting in a bottle again. It does not make the movie "bad". It just does means it will not be a classic. Please forgive me for my behavior on Discord a few months back. I will never be back there and have not even tried too. I am sorry though. I know I am the crazy one.

Ah yeah, the French swearing lol It's just a string of swears, not really sure how to translate them to English though 🤔 Omg I love how you thought it was diarrhea, but then again had I watched this when I was younger, I probably would have thought similarly 🤣

Verowak

That would be so trippy!! Body snatching/swapping 😂😨I am learning that we can never trust someone who is called Bane (Cad Bane in Star Wars, Bane in Batman, this Bane!)

Verowak

Definitely fun to watch so far, and it always amazed me how people can hate on movies so much. Then again, it no longer surprises me after having done several movie franchises and seeing just how divisive fans can be lol

Verowak

The movies are okay and fun to watch. Just not as good as the original one. It is not an Empire Strikes back type of movie. The matrix had several profound philosophical takes. This one just had the one with Agent Smith and NEO both reborn. Add in everyone overdid the special effects so it was not impressive. People hate for no reason. However, it does not make it as good of a movie.

Also, it was nice to see you laughing and smiling at the French! The subtitles on prime video just said "speaking in French" so a lot of the humour there was lost on me. And you were far quicker than me to clue onto what the cake actually was! When I first saw this I was 13 I think, and at the time I assumed it was poison at first, then finally gave her diarrhea 😂

Yeah you were pretty much 100% correct at the end there. It isn't as clear as it could be because we only see him briefly before he got copied, but Smith is indeed inside Bane. He was the bloke who handed off the envelope to the guy who did get out, then got copied. It raised an interesting question though, if Smith can end up inside Bane's body, can someone end up body swapping with someone else if they answer the call in the wrong order? 🤨

Biggsy

I suck at noticing parallels unless people point them out. Now that you did point them out, it does makes sense lol

Verowak

It's definitely nice hearing about people who enjoy the rest of the movies, it's definitely not the popular opinion

Also fun fact: yesterday as we all know was Easter but it was also both Transgender Day of Visibility AND the 25th anniversary of the first Matrix film, which is such an appropriate confluence of events considering the trans allegory and Christ parallels in that film.

Very excited that this was a producer pick! Some reactors only watch the first Matrix movie and don’t finish the series, which frustrates me as a huge fan of all the films. Very much looking forward to watching this and I hope this producer patron is also a fan of the more recent fourth movie, because it might be my favourite.
