Romance movie poll!!

Love is in the air, though I'm thoroughly confused about most of these and have no idea what to expect.  There were a LOT of suggestions, and they've all been noted down, so thank you for that!

As usual, you can vote for as many options as you want, and the voting will end on Jan 23rd at 11am EST/4pmUTC.

Most of the movies that I've heard of didn't win the random draw, so the only info that I'm going in with is at most one or two actors that are in the movie.

May your favourite romance movie win!

I honestly think it's because people who tend to subscribe to reactors skew heavily male. I.E. those typically not interested in stereotypical romantic comedies. So even though this list has some classic examples of the genre, they're never going to appeal to a lot of patrons. For many, a good "romance" would be a movie that happened to have a romantic subplot, but still largely some other genre like fantasy or sci-fi. (On that note, I'm actually surprised that "Ghost" isn't running away with it, since it really *does* have a lot of other genre elements.)

For future polls, or maybe just for your own viewing... "The Shape of Water" (2017), a romantic fantasy and winner of the Best Picture Academy Award.

ButtercupsTrueLove

[shrug] "As you wish" 😀

JAKH

Heck, two of these are some of my all time favourite films. I guess everyone has different tastes but if a list like this isn’t good enough I can’t imagine what would be.

Razor Bikini

Surprised some people are unhappy with the choices. They must just not be fans of romance movies because this is a great variety of popular romance movies, and there’s really only one here that I wouldn’t be happy to see win.

Razor Bikini

Who says it isn't?

Verowak

There will always be people who are happy and others who are unhappy with the choices. That is inevitable. Even if I do a different kind of poll, there will always be someone who is unhappy and would prefer something different

Verowak

If you do not understand the joke feel free to DM me if you want to understand more. If not go away and leave me alone to make my "obscure references" in peace until Vero steps in. TY. :)

Daniel Looney

Okay, I will make it easy. See the Discord about my dog Arya (that is terrified of snow) and what has happened here in the Mid South USA in the past two days. It was a joke

Daniel Looney

I don't understand what any of your comments are trying to say!! The seem like obscure references that only mean something to you.

Arnoldlayne252

Good on you! I noticed. That is why I gave........dammit Arya you where outside for last hour, and then this.......... Forgot entire train of thought. Oh well. :)

Daniel Looney

Fair enough, As I said, just ONE example. We are cool. :)

Daniel Looney

I'd classify it as a nonlinear science fiction romantic drama dark comedy. It doesn't fit well into a single category. ;-) Regardless, I'd also say it is a "serious" role. Also, I'm ecstatic that it is currently winning the poll. We'll see if that holds!

Rob Frawley 2nd

Who says that it is a serious role?

JAKH

Love this film. I don't think it gets the credit it deserves. Great story and wonderful cast and anything with a crazy Gary Oldman performance is usually good (see Leon and 5th Element)

Arnoldlayne252

I also vote "none of the above". There were some good suggestions in the suggestion post, but none of them made it to the poll In the future, when you have too many options for a poll, I suggest you do a multiple-round format. E.g. Sweet 16-Final 4 type format.

JAKH

Movies with "time" in the title tend to make me want to see them 😁

Verowak

All really good movies! Ghost, Eternal Sunshine, and About Time are the most unique. When Harry Met Sally, You’ve Got Mail, and Notting Hill are all very funny. An Affair to Remember and Before Sunrise are so well made and realized. Looking forward to whichever one wins out!

Laxjedi

Ugh! I have to disagree, @Daniel Looney. I'm probably in the minority, but despite being a big fan of both Mel Brooks and the science fiction genre, I've never really cared much for _Spaceballs_ (1987) and would probably not watch that reaction. I think Brooks' hit movies of the 1970s are much more enjoyable: _Blazing Saddles_ (1974), _Young Frankenstein_ (1974), and _High Anxiety_ (1977). I even prefer _Robin Hood: Men In Tights_ (1993) from later in his directorial career.

Phil Stubblefield

It looked to have a really interesting cast.

Verowak

From what I've seen of other reactors, romance movies are not where the money is, so I'm not following the money.

Verowak

I love seeing comedians in a serious role, they usually do so well!

Verowak

I am not sure how I feel about the genre since it's basically new to me 😂

Verowak

None of the above. I have seen them all. What I think your time would be better served watching Space Balls as just one example. However, follow the money. I do have the same info as you do! I am nothing. :)

Daniel Looney

I dont generally watch these movies since I live alone but was really hoping that True Romance was going to be on this poll lol. I loved that movie

John Danziger

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of my favorite Jim Carrey performances.

Rob Frawley 2nd

_Notting Hill_ is one of my favorite rom-coms. Unless you absolutely loathe the genre, I think you'll enjoy it. Delightful performances by Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant, as well as an interesting cast of supporting characters. 👍

Phil Stubblefield

I would like to win at love, so vote carefully
