Cast Away (2000)* FULL LENGTH REACTION

The winner of the Nature poll!

A Tom Hanks movie, which is him 95% of the movie?  Now this was a good one!

Such a rollercoaster of a movie, and his transformation is really amazing.  I definitely need to see more Tom Hanks movies, and I have a few planned for this year already 😁

Poor guy always gets hurt in his movies, first the UTI in Green Mile, now ALL THIS?!

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  Also know there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

I see the sign!! It’s great!!! 😊 Captain Phillips is an awesome Tom Hanks movie and it’s based on actual events.

I'm just glad he kept that one to deliver and not Wilson. Chuck wouldn't have gotten far without Wilson :(

Verowak

That's the answer that I choose to believe lol

Verowak

Oh yeah! I forgot he voices someone in Toy Story! I think it'll be fun to see that one

Verowak

That's super sweet, and another sad part to the movie :(

If one has even the smallest thought of what it takes to have GPS on one's phone. One would understand. :)

For more than a decade. I wanted his package to be (with a low battery) satellite phone. We are talking Nokia type, right? Get me the crap out of this crap hole!

Daniel Looney

Lol, I was hoping someone would come out with this answer

Vero was correct, it was Forrest Gump, but now I am intrigued to know which movie ButtercupsTrueLove was thinking about. Whilst I love Big, The Burbs, Toy Story(s) and acknowledge Apollo 13 is one of my all time favourite movies, Forrest Gump is something special

James Hadden

In at least one interview after the film was released, Hanks said the unopened FedEx package contained a satellite telephone.

The first time i watched "Cast Away" I did want to know badly what the contents of the FedEx parcel was. Subsequent viewings made me realize that the contents weren't really important - that the fact that the parcel was still intact meant it was the reason for Chuck Noland to make that final part of his journey home to deliver it to Bettina's house. When Chuck turns to face in Bettina's direction in the final scene I believe he has made a decision on which direction his life should follow.

ButtercupsTrueLove

"Forrest Gump" is very, very good (and I hope you react to it) but I'm going to guess that it isn't the film that James Hadden had in mind. Or am I mistaken?

ButtercupsTrueLove

The original script stated there were two jars of homemade green salsa and a letter from Bettina to Dick trying to save their marriage. The letter: "You said our life was a prison. Dull. Boring. Empty. I can't begin to tell you how much that hurt. I don't want to lose you. I'm enclosing some salsa, the verde you like. Use it on your sticky rice and think of home. Then come home to me. We'll find the spice in our lives again. Together. I love you always. Bettina."

One of the greatest movies ever with Tom Hanks... I would guess Forrest Gump? It's on my list for this year, if that is the one! I feel like I may be able to survive 4 years, but I definitely would not be able to get off the island with a raft/sail. So it would be me and Wilson against the world 🤣 I'm upset we never found out what was in the box. My curiosity needs to be satisfied!! I imagine he just took off, didn't go back to the ranch/house and just chilled with Wilson on the road :D

Great movie. It is Tom Hanks after all. Glad you enjoyed it. Based on the Tom Hanks movies you said you’d seen during your intro, I’m guessing you haven’t seen one of the greatest movies ever, that just so happens to star this great actor. This really needs fixing. I’ll let you guess which one. You are not alone, most of us cried over a volleyball too. It’s a teary movie in a few places for me. I’m happy we never found out what was in the package, although it looked as though Chuck was about to as he turned back to the lady’s house with that little smile at the end. That’s always been my interpretation of the ending. I have to say Chuck fared a lot better than I would have done, I think 4 weeks would have been a stretch for me. Also, I’d happily take Tom’s level of podgy right about now.
