Next TV Series Poll!

With Chernobyl coming to an end very shortly, we all know it's time for another TV series poll!  These are all series that I'm interested in watching and have 1-2 seasons.  I don't want to start a long series since I'm still heavily into Star Wars content.

I also am curious if you would be interested in seeing anime reactions (Demonslayer, Bleach, Attack on Titan, etc).  ATLA is one cartoon (not sure if it's considered an anime) that I will be watching at some point, followed by The Legend of Korra.  Please let me know in the comments whether yes or no for anime 😊

As usual, you can vote for as many options as you want! 🤩

Also, this poll will end next Monday (Nov 20th) at 11am EST/4pm UTC.

That's awesome that you're into D&D. And it sounds like you might understand my love/hate relationship with Critical Role. These past ten years or so, its been really frustrating as a DM to get new players that have only seen this one show or listened to this one podcast and have this unshakeable belief of how games are supposed to be. I have no illusions about what CritRole is, it showcases actors who agreed to do improv theater while using a specific framework of resolution. It is definitely not an RPG. [Space reserved for thoughts that are more coherent.]

Richard Flores

It actually can be an advantage not knowing anything about the lore. You are free of any expectations and prejudices regarding to the story or characters. Plus the story is build so everyone can perfectly follow it...🙂

silverarrow06

Bosch is something I remember wanting to watch since the main guy is in Lost. I had complete forgotten about it it seems. Oh yeah Robot Chicken Star Wars will need to be watched too, and if I can find other Star Ears spoofed episodes (I know Family Guy did some)

Verowak

Thank you! I do find that anime movie are more overall enjoyed by everyone than anime series

Verowak

I love DnD but never really got into Critical Role. I forgot that Legends of Vox Machina was a series now, and it seems they're actively making new seasons so I'll have to watch it soon!

Verowak

I've heard just great things about it from people who never got into League. They were worried they would miss out on some things by not playing but they said the series doesn't require playing the game.

Verowak

That always makes me so happy to hear! I’m a huge lore nerd! From the very beginning, when I was first introduced to League, I fell in love with its lore! Now seeing all of it come to life in the form of a show, I couldn’t ask for anything better!

MrBriceside

I'm right there with you! I'm still flashed by "Arcane", even now, two years later. 🤩 And I'm from the "other side", I never played and knew nothing about LoL, but this show is easily the best I've ever seen. 😊

silverarrow06

I think you would love Arcane! I'm a League player, so I automatically loved it from the start. But I haven't heard one bad thing about it, even from people not familiar with the League universe! One of my favorite shows of all time, and it's only been one season! Absolutely cannot wait for season 2!

MrBriceside

So glad to hear that ATLA is already in concrete. Happy its a "will be watching" and not a "might be watching", and don't worry, we got patience. Whenever you get to it, we'll still be here. And also The Legend of Vox Machina. You know, the one that was featured in Forbes for being crowdfunded with $11m, the one that has a 100% RT score, the one that S3 coming out sometime in (?maybe?) early 2024.

Richard Flores

Very good to know that they're done in groups of 3s!! Thank you

Verowak

Answering your question: I like anime movies, but not a fan of anime series, except for Robotech and Starblazers/Space Battleship Yamato.

JAKH

Series for future consideration: - "Southland" 43 eps in 5 seasons. Police drama starring Michael Cudlitz, who played Sgt "Bull" Randalman in "Band of Brothers". - "Bosch" detective series, 7x 10-episode seasons starring Titus Welliver (Agent Blake from the MCU) and the late Lance Reddick. Each season is self-contained, telling a story arc which is resolved by the end of the season. Based on a series of novels by Michael Connelly, the stories are intricate and I think very interesting. There is also a spin-off series focusing on Harry Bosch's daughter, which has 2 seasons so far. - "Robot Chicken Star Wars" 3 episodes, each is a collection of related skits from several seasons of "Robot Chicken". Episode 3 reveals the scheme of {REDACTED BY IMPERIAL INQUISITION].

JAKH

Each season of "Agent Carter" aired during the January-February mid-season hiatus or in between seasons of "Agents of SHIELD". Episodes of "AoS" uses elements from the immediately preceding season of "Agent Carter", but "Agent Carter" does not use elements from "AoS", so yes "Agent Carter" can be watched independent of or even before "AoS"

JAKH

😊🙌🏻 Sounds like a good plan, with 9 episode around 35 to 40 minutes each they don't block much time to watch. If you do, watch them in groups of three, as intended on release (1 to 3, 4 to 6 and 7 zo 9). They represent the 3 acts of the story. 🙂 It would be so great if you do it, I can't wait to see your reaction. 🤩

silverarrow06

OK

JAKH

Angel is 5 seasons

Stephen Knueppel

However, Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD are not tied together in any way. They are their own things. You don’t need to avoid spoilers for one show to watch the other.

Zach Zeegen

"Agents of SHIELD" picks up right after "Iron Man 3" and continues the story of the "Extremis Serum". There is an episode where they are cleaning up the mess after "Thor 2", and it is pretty obvious when "Winter Soldier" happens. There were also 2x seasons (8 & 10 eps) of "Agent Carter" set in the late 1940's after the first "Captain America" and the end of WW2. They can be watched without seeing "Agents of SHIELD", but they do start after the "Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter".

JAKH

7x 20+ ep network seasons (6-1/2, the first was a mid-season replacement), plus the spinoff show "Angel", another 7 seasons

JAKH

No, it’s completely separate from all of the Netflix shows, but it is in the MCU. It takes place right after the first Avengers movie.

Zach Zeegen

I want to, I just have a question... does it tie into the Daredevil/Jessica Jones/other heroes (the Defenders I think they're called)? Or it's completely separate.

Verowak

Seems you have a very good chance of that since those are the top three at the moment lol

Verowak

I'll have a bit more free time in December, so I'll most likely watch a TV series that I decide during that time. Arcane may just be it since I saw Season 2 is coming out November of 2024

Verowak

Buffy played while I was growing up, but I have no idea why I never watched it. I'm assuming it either played too late or at the same time as another show that we watched. I would love to get around to watching it at some point though

Verowak

I clearly need to find more time somehow so I can watch all of these shows lol

Verowak

Buffy would be good, although due to the age of long seasons has a reasonable amount of filler episodes. When it does hit though, man it is good, some truly great episodes. With the total length of the show it would be a pretty big commitment.

James Hadden

Can you please react to Agents of SHIELD?

Zach Zeegen

If it's Squid Game, Firefly or The Pacific I'll be happy.

King_Panarisi

"Arcane", no hesitation or doubt. 🙏😊🤩 All good shows listed here, but "Arcane" is by far the best of this list. I'm sad to see so few seem to know what an absolute highlight this show is. Makes me wish you would react to it it without putting it on a poll. I'm 99,95% shure you will love it. If you don't come around watching it for the channel, watch it for your own pleasure, you won't regret it. 😊

silverarrow06

Firefly is great but also from Joss Whedon and even better is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You should really react to that one, you'd love it and it has a very large supportive fan base that would find you.

Stephen Knueppel

I'm completely torn between Firefly and Dark Angel. They are both shows I watched on tv as a kid and loved. I've never seen anyone react to Dark Angel before and so that first seems huge. I would love Dark Angel to win. Its such a good show. Jessica Alba is fantastic and a total badass in it. Its super dated and corny but still awesome. But yeah you would be a friggen hero if you watched Dark Angel.

Ashley

When I watch Firefly, the movie will be watched right after for sure!

Verowak

Firefly has only one season (14 episodes) and a movie. A great way to end the year and start the New Year!

The Pacific 100%
