Stargate (1994) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

Here comes another Producer Pick!!!  Step into the Stargate and see what it has to offer.

I believe I watched the non-extended cut (also known as the normal theatrical cut I assume).

I'm always up for a new sci-fi adventure 🌟💫🪐

This is the link to YouTube for the movie.  If you are outside of the USA and have a VPN, you can VPN to the US in order to watch it:

Stargate (1994) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

Comments

The only issue with a separate channel/patreon, is that I don't really like the idea of people paying for 2 patreons if they like all the content. You must really enjoy Stargate with all those rewatches! It's funny how something we think will not be to our liking ends up being so great 😁 I've seen a bunch of people mention Children of the Gods, so that's really good to know thanks, and I'll start with that (however I manage to find it). Currently in Canada it seems there are only 3 seasons of SG1 available so streaming it doesn't seem like a possibility, so I'll have to look into that aspect first. The only time that I actively skip fillers is when watching anime. I find live action fillers not as bad for some reason🤔

Coming over from the new YT edit.. I already see hundreds of comments on YT wanting you to react to the SG-1 series (in like 12 hours after the posting), but, just keep in mind, it's gonna be A LOT. *If* you go for it, I think you could even start a new channel/patreon focused entirely on the SG franchise. And I'm fairly certain the fans will come & pay for it, because we frickin love the show, and you are good at your job (we like smart, thoughtful people). Looking back, I think I was about your age when an ex first forced me to watch SG-1. I thought it'd be silly and dumb, but I got super hooked, and have now watched all of it (series/movies) I think at least 3 times. And I'm probably gonna start another rewatch now (THNX?) SG-1 it's offspring were created & written by sci-fi nerds who grew up watching the -Trek and -Wars and everything else they could find. IMO they went above and beyond to make a show that's both super fun and doesn't insult your intelligence (and adds much-needed humor). If you do watch, either for reaction or just on your own, here's some spreadsheet help from the superfans: Best/preferred watch order: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1b5T6bk5bS9LDaIVXR55-agOd_FYgTN0TZcpZDfvnMg4/ (fwiw there is a 'final' cut of the pilot, Children of the Gods, which re-edits it to be less cringy and fix some plot holes, but I don't see it streaming anywhere.. oh well?) Skippable eps: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vZdARtUte3VN18G3MKXfYOsUtLmQTJG3Xwh59jp5hSA/ (this is just if you don't wanna waste time on the boring eps, such as episode 4 Emancipation, where they obviously ran outta money and needed filler.. you'll be onboarded faster, and can always revisit those ones later)

Captain Ron!!! 🤣

Having a patch on your favorite jacket is pretty big! I love it when people decorate their jackets or clothing/accessories with shows or movies that they love! SG1 has me really intrigued though since I loved this concept and would love to see more

Verowak

Kurt Russell was a Disney star. he was basically always famous. Heck Walt Disneys dying words were "Kurt Russell"

Ashley

I love this movie but SG1(the tv show) is my favorite series/thing of all time. I even put an SG1 patch on my favorite jacket. I guess that doesn't sound as impressive as like a tattoo or something. but whatever lol.

Ashley

I'm not sure why they recut it and I'm struggling to find a reason for it online but it seems to be so they could release it as a standalone title. Odd.

Biggsy

That is one aspect of characters that I have a very hard time understanding. But thanks for pointing it out, I definitely was not thinking of that at all!! lol

Verowak

You ask why those guys would get out of their ships...well never underestimate the pitfall that is arrogance.

BJ Stephens

Start with SG-1 (It has around 214 episodes + 2 movies) Stargate Atlantis starts AFTER SG-1 season 7 ends and continues along SG-1! Continuum starts after Atlantis ends.

KittyGuardian

I haven't seen many rom-coms so not sure if I would enjoy them. I'm guessing the best chances of my enjoying a rom-com would be if they were made in the 90s/early 2000s lol There was a shift in comedy delivery/style at some point afterwards that just doesn't work for me I enjoy romance when done decently well. I dislike it when there is a new character (man or woman) that shares 1 look with the main character, and then you KNOW there will be romance. 🤣

Verowak

I definitely haven't heard of most of those, so I'm not surprised I haven't seen him in anything lol Thanks for the movie info!

Verowak

Oh that's true, I did see Rick Moranis in a movie!! Little Shop of Horrors!! I haven't seen it in years though so I'm due to watch it with an adult perspective lol

Verowak

I've heard the name of that movie, but have never looked anything up. I'll have to watch it with 0 information (except that Kurt Russel is in it)!

Verowak

Canada is a great place to film tv series and movies, I'm glad that a lot of the good ones were filmed here lol And it makes perfect sense for the actors to be used in various shows too. Makes it fun for the fans to recognize them!!

Verowak

There are WAY more than I thought! So many I haven't heard of, thank you!! I was hoping Ra would be more involved and more destructive, but as it is with everywhere else, people in power don't do the work, they get their minions to do it. When I make a villain, they will be RUTHLESS! 😂 Interesting they made the first two episodes into a final cut version though. Do you know the reason why?

Verowak

I'm glad it worked!!! I am super curious about the show, I just have to figure out when I can watch it lol

Verowak

My favourite Kurt Russell movies are The Thing and Overboard (but I don’t think you like rom-coms so that’s out). You cover up your dislike of love interests really well - “oh, your wife’s dead” 😆. As unrealistic and forced as it always is, I’m a sucker for a bit of movie romance. I always find it a nice foil to whatever else is going on (I know that’s what most people dislike about it)

The Earth Orbit Crossing Asteroid (EOCA) "Apophis" was named by its discoverers after one of the antagonists from SG-1. They are fans of the show. For a while it was considered the most dangerous known potential Earth impactor, with a close approach (inside the orbit of the Moon) every 7 years. The dangerous ones were a flyby coming up Friday, April 13th, 2029 ("close" here meaning less than the orbit of geostationary satellites, so it might be photographed by weather satellites as it goes by >under< them) and another on Friday, April 13th, 2036. The danger was that if the 2029 flyby passed through a certain area (the "keyhole"), the Earth's gravity would shift Apophis' orbit so that 2036 would be a Pacific impact. It is now believed that 2029 will miss the critical "keyhole" and "just" be closer than geostationary satellites.

"Stargate" is a product of the team of Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich (and his wife Ute Emmerich). They had a steady series of successes on a regular schedule in the 1990's culminating with "The Patriot" in 2000, followed by a whole lot of of stinkers ever since: "Universal Soldier" (1992) sci-fi action "Stargate" (1994) "Independence Day" (1996) sci-fi action "Godzilla" (1998) sci-fi action "The Patriot" (2000) AWI fictional action/drama every 2 years like clockwork

JAKH

Kurt Russell started as a child actor on Disney's "Mickey Mouse Club" TV show, and was in a bunch of Disney live action movies as a kid and teen. The best of his movies as an adult are (ranked): "Backdraft" w/ William Baldwin, Robert DeNiro, Donald Sutherland, Scott Glenn. Directed by Ron Howard. No CGI, all practical FX "Tombstone" modern western "Deepwater Horizon" true story "Overboard" comedy "Tequila Sunrise" comedy/drama "Executive Decision" action and some campy action movies: "Tango and Cash" w/ Sylvester Stallone "Big Trouble In Little China" "Escape From New York" "The Thing"

JAKH

for Rick Moranis: "Spaceballs" - sci fi spoof, requires familiarity with Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Princess Bride, and Alien "Ghostbusters" "Little Shop of Horrors" "My Blue Heaven" comedy w/ Steve Martin

JAKH

Atlantis is a spin-off of SG-1 that ran concurrently with the later seasons. It will be pretty obvious as you watch SG-1 where to start Atlantis. SG Universe is then another later spinoff. the 2 movies pick up after the end of the last season of SG-1. All are Canadian productions filmed around Vancouver. In the 1990's there were a bunch of syndicated sci-fi TV shows made in the Vancouver and Toronto areas in addition to Stargate, and many shared guest stars, almost a who's-who of Canadian actors and actresses: "Forever Knight", "Highlander", "Earth: Final Conflict", "Andromeda", "The Outer Limits", etc.. A lot of it then shifted to New Zealand.

JAKH

If you're looking for more Kurt Russel films - for me, the best is definitely "Big Trouble in Little China"!

This is such a classic 90s sci-fi movie and I love how all the actors commented about how terrible they thought it was going to be 😄 I always felt that Ra could have been a lot more intimidating but when you're cosplaying a God and have super minions to do your dirty work I guess you're allowed to focus on your hair styles and fancy clothing instead. So overall there was 10 seasons of SG-1, 5 of Atlantis, 2 of Universe, as well as 2 direct to DVD movies: Ark of Truth and Continuum. There were 2 other shows of 1 season length - 'Origins', and 'Infinity' which is animated, but fans generally regard these as not worth bothering with. That is a lot of TV shows, each season is about 20 episodes, each episode is ~45 mins. If you are wanting to look at starting the show (which I'd definitely recommend despite the big time commitment) then the first 2 episodes of SG-1 season 1 (Children of the Gods) were actually rereleased in 2009 into a "final cut version" which is actually where I'd suggest you start. 😃

Biggsy

Thanks it worked. I hope you watch the show as well. If you do it will take you quite a while, but it's really worth it. :)

KittyGuardian

I have add blocker too ,but no vpn. I'm sure I can make it work. Maybe I was just finding the other version. I have never watched the short one. But here we go. :)

KittyGuardian

Dammit, the one time the extended is the most readily available! It's here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lsuY5dYxOCs and can be watched with a VPN to the USA. I have an ad blocker, so there were no ads while watching it

Verowak

The version of the movie I have is Director's cut. Everyone I find it is the 2:09 one. Where is that channel you mentioned? I can't find it. Stupid Youtube altering what everyone sees differently. I so wanted to watch it with you.
