Centurion (2010) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

The first of the Producer picks!!

When this was suggested, it was the first time I had heard of this movie, and I didn't look anything up (except for the poster).

This was more gory than expected, since any movies that I've seen set in that time period doesn't have heads exploding and limbs being cut off 🤣

It felt like a new take on an action movie set in that time period, and fun!  Plus huge bonus that Davos is in it (Liam Cunningham)

Reminder that you need your own copy of the movie to watchalong, and that there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Centurion (2010) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

I completely get that, seems silly to have armor if it's easily penetrable. Just part of the suspension of disbelief haha

Before guns and after cavemen. I was right! 🤣 You make a great point, it was nice to see it as a narrow story, focused on one thing, really. I didn't think of it that way until you said it. I was half wanting to root for Étain and the pics halfway through

My only issue with the fight scenes (bearing in mind I have no knowledge of weapons or armour) is why would the Romans spend the time, money and effort making armour when it appears incapable of deflecting a single blade? Arrows I get. But this is just me nitpicking, and didn’t detract from the movie (as it may be accurate for all I know).

I love a movie set before guns and after cavemen 😁 I’d never heard of this movie before. I like the fact it’s a less well known pick. I don’t usually mind knowing a little bit about them or who’s in them, but it was a nice change going in completely blind. I recognised a bunch of names in the opening credits so it was nice to see them appear. I really like movies featuring a more narrow, less expansive story, not spread across countless locations or having a convoluted plot, especially compared to superhero and some action movies. So overall I did enjoy it. I wasn’t sure myself who I should be rooting for at about the halfway mark, but there only seemed to be that one guy who’d taken “unnecessary” actions, so I started to lean towards the centurion.

I MUCH prefer not knowing anything about it. If you KNOW something is a horror movie, you tend to go in with a horror movie mindset, or if it's a comedy you go in expecting to laugh. It was a good choice and I'm glad to have seen it, it had unexpected elements :D

Oh I'm glad you liked the movie! I fully appreciate it's always a risk doing a suggested movie especially when it's one you know nothing about 😄
