Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2015) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

This feels surreal, the first Mission Impossible movie was made in 1996.  19 years later, Rogue Nation came out!!!

I never thought I would enjoy action movies so much, but this franchise has made them so damn fun, and the variety of stunts has been nothing but amazing.

I'm not able to choose a favorite Mission Impossible movie, they are all epic in their own ways.  I would rather hang onto the side of a plane than jump into a swirling vortex, maybe that's just me.

I also just realized that I need to watch Die Hard 2 at some point since I completely forgot about that franchise 😅

Reminder that you need your own copy of the movie to watchalong, and that there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Next, I have to watch Fallout, so I can watch Dead Reckoning Part 1 since it's coming to streaming services!!!

Ethan being vulnerable and not perfect is so nice to see!! I feel usually that's not the case for the stars of the movie. And Ilsa is such an amazing character, they properly showcased her skills. I like the way that you put it, she's co-lead of this movie and it's a flawless shift to just having Tom Cruise in the hot seat. While editing I got to rewatch it all, and the opera scene was really well done. I felt like a few times the movement and action were done with the music and didn't know if it was a coincidence. I'll have to rewatch it and pay more attention during that scene

For me, this movie is a perfect showcase for how they've made Ethan Hunt increasingly vulnerable and seemingly outmatched as the series progresses. I think it makes him a lot more relatable. For instance, the opera scene where he's comically outsized by the guy he's fighting, and seems to be losing up until the last moment. I also find it really cool how much of a spotlight they put on new character Ilsa Faust. She gets a ton of screen time, and saves Ethan's life not just once, but twice. Not only that, but the big fight scene at the end with the Bone Doctor is given entirely to her. She's basically co-lead of this movie. Lastly, the opera scene is one of my favorites in the entire franchise. The actual opera performance basically serves as the movie score, and a lot of the character actions are timed to the music. When talking about the most memorable MI scenes, people usually mention Tom Cruise's stunts, but the opera scene really belongs in the discussion. (I also love how throughout the movie, variation of the Nessun Dorma theme is used to represent Ilsa's character.)

🤣🤣All we needed was Tom Cruise to chase princess Leia, and we'd be good. I love how he just gives it his all and it shows! It really makes everything seem more realistic

Being in a car with a stunt driver (or Tom Cruise) would be absolutely terrifying!! I like to imagine that Simon Pegg did NOT see the course they would take to film, so the stairs was a surprise to him 🤣

I am honestly so surprised that each film has been so entertaining!! I keep expecting the quality to drop, but it just doesn't!! I'm excited for Die Hard too 😁

I love that kind of thing. I obviously won’t go into any detail but there’s similarly improvised dialogue in the latest movie

Fun reaction to a great movie, thanks. I think everyone loves to see Tom running, the energy and purpose he conveys, it’s some of the best in cinema. It’s not quite up there with the numerous people chasing a young Princess Leia, but a close second. Cool lights BTW. I’d like some nice led lighting but I’m currently too lazy to install any.

Favorite fun movie fact: To add to the driving done by Tom Cruise, he kept reassuring Simon Pegg that the stunt driving was safe and that everything was going to go well. What he didn't tell Simon was that the close quarter driving between the motorcycles and the buildings was more dangerous than he was letting on because Simon was already nervous about the whole thing. And the scene when they were driving on the stairs, Benji screaming "Stairs, stairs, stairs" was all improvised by Simon.

Theres not a lot of film franchises with so many films, and each new film either being just as good, if not better than the last! Also.. Very much looking forward to you getting back into Die Hard!
