Clone Wars Episode 516 (105) *FULL LENGTH REACTION

I dislike Yoda.

I despise Palpatine.

Poor Obi-Wan 😭

Such a great arc, and a gem of an episode.  Lots of stuff happening, and the story is moving along really well.  I'm so invested in what happens on Mandalore, and how Ahsoka and Padme will take Satine's death and the Death Watch taking over basically.

DAMMIT PALPATINE!!  Why did he fight have to be good 🤣

So there are 3 Siths but Palpatine said that Maul is no longer his apprentice.  Does that mean he's automatically not a Sith anymore, because that's a bit silly.

Maul pleading was a bit strange, but maybe that's because he knew what Palpatine would do 🤔

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the episode.  Also know there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Now I want to know more of Maul's storyline!!

I love that we get to see Palpatine in action. I get that he is really strong, but it was hard to see that from the prequels (with the actor being pretty old, it's hard to see the extent of his power, same with Count Dooku).

I never understood why Yoda was so loved in the originals, in the prequels he didn't seem amazing, it was good to see him fight though. From the prequels, I already didn't like the council much, so the Clone Wars has just solidified my thoughts and feelings 😁😂 I love Obi-Wan, he's a great character, but I get frustrated with him being devout to the Jedi Order at times lol

For many people, this particular episode is considered to be the greatest individual episode in the series, and certainly with good reason. It was one of the most eventful episodes, and it has been the first time so far that we have seen Palpatine make an appearance as Darth Sidious, let alone fight with lightsabers. Once again, a lightsaber duel involving Maul becomes one of the best we've seen in the series. Looking forward watching you complete the season.

One of my favorite things about watching people react to the animated shows is their perception of the jedi and Yoda specifically. Obviously in the movies the jedi are made out to be heroes and wise (except for episode 3) and Yoda is held in the highest regard. Then people start watching the animated shows and start having reservations about the jedi order and Yoda and seeing how it plays out through the shows is always entertaining. Not that Yoda or the jedi had bad intentions, but they were just too self righteous and stuck up to realize that they were actually feeding into the problems.

Dammit Disney!! I'm glad that they did go back to finish the show though. I'll try to time it to read it between season 6 and 7! Thank you

The next part of Maul’s arc was actually released in a comic book called the Son of Dathamir. They did this because at the end of season 5, Disney bought Star Wars and they canceled the Clone Wars (they eventually went back and finished the show). However, fans still wanted to be able to see this arc, so a comic was the best way to do it at the time. If you decide to read it, I would wait until you finish season 6 since it has some spoilers from that season. Also it takes place between seasons 6 and 7, so if you want to watch the show chronologically, thats the best place to do it.

I would love to see the Jedi and Sith fighting like that!! I feel like there are a lot of books for me to read after all of this lol It's very strange to see Maul so different from what he's been like this whole arc, but Maul obviously knew he was beat and there was no way for him to win, which is terrifying.

Verowak

I love the emergence of new characters! But seeing Satine die is just so terrible, and again, poor Obi-Wan. I feel like he's made a lot of misguided/blind decisions and he has suffered for a lot of them. Even though I hate Palpatine, I appreciate seeing him in action here. We can see he's really strong, and there are some of the moves he uses in Episode 3 in this fight too!

I'll have to pay attention to see if I notice the changes in the coming episodes (or whenever Palpatine shows up next)

Verowak

Oooh, that sounds amazing!! I can't wait to hear the music!!

Verowak

The next arc is the biggest arc of the entire season if not the whole show. No spoilers, but I will say that the person who composes the music for this show (Kevin Kiner) knew how big of a story this would be and brought in an entire orchestra for this next arc which is not something that has happened in this show.

Yeah, this is officially the last arc with Palpatine’s original voice actor (Ian Abercrombie). actually, the line where Palpatine says, “Do not worry, I’m not going to kill you, I have other uses for you.” That was the new voice actor; Tim Curry.

This was such a big moment. Satine's death still hits me all these years later. Even Savage's death was sad to me. It was cool to see Bo rising to the occasion after everything she's done and learning that she's Satine's sister. Palpatine showing up himself and Maul's fear of him was so chilling. Their fight was like movie quality, one of the best fights we've seen in the series so far. R.I.P. Ian Ambercrombie, the original voice of Clone Wars Palpatine. In this episode there's a shot of a mural that depicts Jedi and Mandalorians fighting, likely in reference to the Mandalorian and Jedi Wars in The Old Republic Era from Legends. To me I think Maul is more of a Dark Side user than a Sith. He doesn't really have a Master or an Apprentice anymore, he's kinda alone. As Palpatine put it, he became a rival, and he took care of business, stopping Maul from becoming a threat to him.

A long time ago Sith and Jedi were fighting eachoter in big armies like clones vs droids so not being Palpatine's apprentice doesn't take away the Sith title. Sith are usually trained from birth to be Sith just like the Jedi are to be Jedi. Maul's pleading came after realizing he was absolutely no match for Palpatine so it makes sense to me even tho we have not really seen that side of him so i guess it can be weird.
