Shaun of the Dead (2004) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

The start of horror/spooky/October movies has begun!!

And we're starting off with something funny... Shaun of the Dead!

I was expecting it to be along the lines of Hot Fuzz, but it was actually very different!  More gory than I anticipated, and more heartfelt, too!  Those are two things I was NOT expecting 😂

Overall, it was really fun, and even if there was gore, it was more funny since the movie is comedic.  The atmosphere really changes how I'll react to what I see 😁

Reminder that you need your own copy of the movie to watchalong, and that there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Things will get spookier and scarier throughout the month!!

Shaun of the Dead (2004) | FULL LENGTH REACTION

Comments

I definitely much prefer British comedy than American comedy! I love Simon Pegg in these movies, not as much of a fan of him in Mission Impossible, but still good most times lol

I think you have an impossible job of trying to balance paying enough attention to not miss too much, not talking over all the dialogue, but still giving some kind of worthwhile reaction. Well done walking that tightrope. The “she’s engaged” sequence is great, with the follow up of “Philip’s been bitten” double casual replies of “oh”. Another favourite moment: Shaun: “He’s NOT my boyfriend!” Ed handing him a pint: “Cooler’s off so might be a bit warm” Shaun: “Thanks babe” Simon Pegg is a master of comedic delivery, and when I say British comedy is the best, I am of course 100% biased, but doesn’t stop it being true 😁

I loved that!! I hate talking over people, and I'm still getting used to it with reactions, so I don't always say what I think since the actors are speaking lol I love how he only corrected the one statement. I also like it when Shaun is trying to ring Liz and says "She's engaged" and Ed says "that was fast" 🤣 Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz have so many golden lines which makes them great movies to rewatch and pick up more every time

For some reason my favourite really subtle joke just came to mind and I felt the urge to share: Shaun and Liz are arguing in her flat when David and Di are mentioned and Liz says something like “what, a failed actress and a twat?” to which Shaun replies “I did not call Dianne a failed actress”. I don’t think many people (probably myself included) pick up on it the first time. I just love it.

The amount of Harry Potter cast in Hot Fuzz was great!! I don't know of many movies that use the same cast members, so my intro with this unofficial series was great!!

I can't remember which I saw first, Hot Fuzz or this. I just gave in one day. It took me a while to find out that they were by Edgar Wright (director/writer) I wasn't a fan of movies that use the same cast members. These broke my view on that. I do enjoy HF more. It's likely because of the number of Harry Potter cast that we had in it. Take care and I can't wait to see what you have coming.

I wish I would have watched this one before Hot Fuzz lol

Great comedy. Hot Fuzz is a great follow up to this by the same guys
