Oscar host Billy Crystal made his entrance that year being wheeled out on stage, wearing the Hannibal Lector muzzle... that was a good sign for the evening.

2025-01-28 03:06:35 +0000 UTCWow guys, thank you. Loved it! This film and its characters are compelling, intense and still at the same time. Mesmerize is a great word, James. It was released on Valentine's Day, which I find delightfully odd. Popular month for horror/thriller films, but still.

2025-01-28 02:54:00 +0000 UTCThis is one of three movies to sweep the Oscars in the five major categories: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Screenplay. The other two movies are It Happened One Night and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (which won the green bean, so hopefully we'll be seeing that on the channel soon). There is a sequel with Anthony Hopkins, but Jodie Foster is gone (recast by Julliane Moore) and so is the director of this one, and it's not a good movie.
