Aegon was raising his son to be a monster. The little boy was indulged in everything; this is how Caligula was raised. I think the Queen had a glimpse of this before she made "Sophie's Choice". It would explain the strange pause she made before pointing to her son. Now, Aegon's heir is a girl and we're back to the same question that worked to undermine Rhaenyra's claim.
