The irony is that the "necklace" that Aunt Cookie bought Riley was prolly more valuable monetarily than the Lethal Interjection chain lol. Which is the reason why the chain is supposed to symbolize a bond that mocks the idea of being traded just for money.

Much of what the valuable metal is based on (gold/silver/diamond) is infused with other metals which debases the purity of the precious metal to the point where it's "worthless" cause the valuable metal becomes impure. They would only have value to some nitch fan base that collects memorabilia and not anywhere else.
