Funnily enough, the way MLK was treated in this episode after 9/11 is accurate to how America perceived him while he was alive. His work on civil rights also extended toward anti Vietnam War sentiments and workers rights, making him the most hated man in America. The perception of him that we are sold these days that he was loved by all, especially by White America, is a fabrication. Claudette Colvin is the name you are looking for. Everything you said was pretty accurate, she wasn’t advertisable enough to be the face of the bus boycott. It’s a shame how even in revolution we need to be capitalists and sell something the “right” way in order for people to take notice. I’ve always had conflicting feelings on this episode. Feels like it lies too much into the whole respectability politics angle. I guess that can be attributed to this being Huey’s dream at the end of the day. But MLK is right, fuck BET

I still enjoy their reaction though. There is a lot to come in this show that surprisingly relevant to some in 2024
