But Goku kept his body because of his heroic actions and dying in battle he was granted permission to keep his body. In other cases ig their soul just gets sent back to the dead body. When they make the wish to bring them back,it seems like shenron just completely heals their body.This might've been confusing but long story short, Yes they come back in the body that they die in. Goku flew back to earth because he was granted his body back in king kai's so his body moved from earth to king kai's.
