Delays aside, the reason Zom 100 has to go on hiatus now is because the Fall 2023 anime season begins in October. In other words, they ran out of time. Bug Films purchased a time slot to air episodes of Zom 100 during the Summer 2023 anime season, and that time slot now belongs to a different anime. They'll have to wait until space is available to air more episodes. Zom 100 is the first anime produced by Bug Films, a new animation studio. The employees have worked in the anime industry before, but Zom 100 was their debut as a company. I'm guessing they (frequently) worked until the very last minute to make the show look as good as possible, no matter what issues that created. When episodes of Zom 100 were delayed by an entire week, that delay impacted everyone. One of those delays was cause by a sporting event that took over Zom 100's time slot. I'm not sure if this was planned or unplanned, but there was at least one week where they aired a recap instead of a new episode. As for episodes delayed from Sunday to Monday, that only impacted streaming services. Those episodes still aired on time in Japan, so it's theorized that Bug Films didn't send the raw footage to streaming services until the very last minute (which didn't give them enough time to prepare before Sunday arrived).
