That scene was a new, anime-only addition to the series, courtesy of Kubo. We knew Shinji had a Bankai, but the manga never showed it, named it, or talked about it.

He chooses the quickest and easiest ways to victory. Your gonna see he isn't your typical villain that showboats over his power and plays around with his enemies. It's one of the reasons he is more dangerous than Aizen

2023-07-24 00:28:51 +0000 UTCIt’s funny how kisuke one ups mayuri every time to solve a situation at soul society. kisuke just helped the captains that lost their Bankai to be restored by using a pill with the Arrancars DNA. But Yhwach has seen enough and had the sternritters to use their true powers which is ‘Vlot standing’ release. Shinji’s Bankai was the peak of this cour because he has to be alone and nobody around to release it. He could’ve done it back in OG bleach but he can’t because he could’ve harmed his comrades with his Broken power and if he did used his bankai against Aizen it would’ve been awesome to witness. Most of these Captains Bankai so far that we didn’t see in OG bleach are amazing.
