Shunsui said teaching Zaraki "zanjutsu" which translates to "way of the sword". Basically Zaraki doesn't have technique in his fighting as of now. But... It isn't really zanjutsu training in reality. It's a fight between two kenpachis to make Zaraki stronger and it's a risky battle cuz one could die. Whereas, people don't die in usual "training"so that's why Shunsui was apologetic for calling it "zanjutsu" training. Zaraki got his eye scar from Unohana btw. They both have a scar from each other. Soul reapers probably used to use normal swords before "zanpakuto" was created. Zanpakuto comes with major advantages, ofc, with transformations. Shikai and... BAN-KAI! This is different part of Muken prison I think. Aizen is below squad one barracks.
