2023-02-03 02:04:57 +0000 UTCUnohana and the rest of Squad 4 staying in the barracks made a lot of sense because while they could've saved more people initially, they would've all been killed since only 2 people in the squad have actual fighting skills. The rest of Squad 4 are just strictly healers and custodians of soul society. Regarding the Broken Bankais and how they can't be fixed after being damaged, The manga goes further into detail and explains that Toshiro and Komamura's Bankais are the only expectations. Toshiro's can repair itself as long as there's water in the atmosphere and Komamura's is just a symbiotic link to himself so all he has to do is heal himself and his sword and the bankai's will also do the same. They also explain that Ikkaku's bankai is still broken from the fight he had with the volcano arrancar and that Akon basically super glued it back together. If Orihime was there she could've just reversed the damage to Ichigo's Bankai but... She's in Hueco Mundo. Speaking of Hueco Mundo, Kon has been in soul society since Ichigo left to go to Hueco Mundo to save Orihime 😭 Kurotsuchi ordered his capture while the group was gone.
