2023-01-26 23:53:50 +0000 UTC@Scott Brown You're completely misunderstanding what happened. Yhwach could've stolen Yamamoto's bankai at any time, he didn't need to "understand it" to steal it. Even he himself said "It's not that we couldn't steal your Bankai, but it is so powerful no one other than I can handle it, so I had Royd leave it alone until I returned". He was busy talking to Aizen, therefore was unable to be present during the initial fight.

If he could just walk up and steal Yamamoto's bankai then kill him immediately, there would be no reason to go through with a plan like this. He could've just killed him and then gone and spoken to Aizen. He didn't do that, which implies that either having Yama tire himself out first on Royd or Aizen joining with him would be better than directly fighting the old man. If Yhwach couldn't do the thing that he does later and couldn't steal his bankai, Yamamoto would likely destroy him. His bankai is just too powerful. At this point, "base" Yhwach is the only version that the anime-only people have to compare Yama to.

Ywach can also control how much power he gives to the Sternritter at any given time (like when Quilge said "I'll have to tell advise His Majesty to adjust the strength of our Blut), so he was also likely amped way up in order to be a good distraction.

The only reason Yhwach didn't fight Yamamoto off the rip is because he was using the precious time he had to attempt and recruit Aizen, while Royd was on the battlefield. Yamamoto does not compare to Yhwach in power.

Loyd has the power to copy powers and abilities and Royd could copy memories and personalities. Since they're twins, they both share the same epithet "Y". Idk why they cut out the part that explains this, a lot of anime-only's were confused about this.

Lloyd has the abilty to mimic a person power and abilities and Royd can mimic memories and personality. Since its impossible to tell the difference between the original and the fake when Royd expressed emotion about Yhwach dead subordinates thats how the real Yhwach would have actually reacted if he was pushed to that state.
