So the comment about the iodine is a very niche, but interesting fact that iodine is artificially added to most salts because all of those of us that live in Landlock states like myself don’t get the iodine benefit of seafood, and there was a major issue in the early days of the US where iodine deficiency Was causing many of us to develop massive goiters on the neck and adding iodine to the salt, which was something that everybody used widely completely solved that problem and is something we still do today also, I used to work at a outdoor concert venue in the kitchen and one of my jobs. The first year I worked there was the popcorn bitch so I would stand in front of one of those movie theater, popcorn makers, and make popcorn for three hours before every shift so that there was enough for the whole venue for the concert. I can tell you with some conclusive proof that the only difference between popcorn, you make it home and popcorn you get at a venue or a movie theater is that the tub of lard that they use to pop the popcorn as the oil is so bad for you that it is solid even in the elevated temperatures of a kitchen and you have to have a specific warmer to insert into the tub of lard to heat it up enough to put into the popcorn machine through the tubing and that is why it taste so damn good
