I've been putting off listening to this one because seeing "Eraserhead, Twin Peaks" on the list of topics got me so excited, I love hearing Geoff talk about Lynch because I love Lynch like crazy. Now I've been crying every day for the past week, which might seem silly, but I don't think I ever considered that he'd die. On Now; i think its called, its not exactly like scrolling cause you still kinda pick the content but it will just have random episodes on and it brings back a bit of the old tv experience but the channel surfing is harder to do

2025-01-03 15:14:59 +0000 UTCPinouts for modular PSUs aren't standardized like other components are, but it's not a grand conspiracy or anything. The manufacturers just use the pinouts that make most sense for their architecture and pcb manufacturer. Anytime you get a new psu, you get a full set of cables to use with it and an instruction manual explaining exactly how to plug everything in. Check out LTT's turbo nerd video on PSUs if you want more detailed answers.

2025-01-03 05:43:57 +0000 UTCHe's absolutely wrong about the PSU, you don't need an identical replacement, just pull the old one and its cables, and install the new one and the cables that come with that, as long as you don't fuck up and buy the wrong rating and cables then its literally plug and play. Parts being hard to get is just normal BMW after sale service, they've never made enough, which just compounds their issues, they are significantly over complicated and as a result have significant reliability problems, much like Geoff has anecdotally supported over the many years he's had issues with them.

2025-01-03 04:06:38 +0000 UTCYeah, but in what other world are products that all look identical, all use the same connectors, and are all for the same purpose are they all intentionally changed within the same product lineup let alone all of the brands with nothing done to help the consumer figure it out AND the risk is dead components... There's no legitimate excuse corsair has to constantly change the pinouts. It's been the same pcie connector in the power supply for 30 years. I am NOT talking about the component side, I am talking about the pinouts IN THE PSU For the modular cables that have no legitimate reason to have ever changed at any point in modular ATX PSU history. You are intentionally being thick because you "know", just because its "normal" doesn't mean its common sense, or intelligent in the first place.

You're supposed to use the cables that come with the psu and the psu comes with instructions to walk you through it, not to mention all of the instructional videos you can find on YouTube. It's really not a hard thing to do at all.

2025-01-02 19:12:01 +0000 UTCIt's not actually since all of the modular psu companies randomly change the pinouts on the psu side and don't tell you or provide an easy way to find out so there's almost never modular psu cable compatibility within a brands own products unless they are all from the same time window. It's almost like its designed for people to kill components....

The psu companies like Corsair change the pinouts of the psu side connector cabling so modular power supply cables are not interchangeable even between same manufacturer model lineups. If you replace the psu, replace all of the cables for it. It's almost designed to be this hard..... I think places like cable mod can help you cross reference but the safest thing imo is just get new psu and use it's cables.

Your PC would still have to have been powering on and simply not booting, while Geoff's power supply is not powering on at all (fan isn't spinning). Also, don't feel embarassed that you didn't know about the motherboard reset: it's only really meant for technicians to press that button.
