Whiteboards sometimes give me the same feeling, but it's not as bad as chalkboards. This was even before I saw people doing the scratching thing in shows to make the screeching sound, which makes that feeling worse.

At the very least in the Netherlands, since I've seen it on TV. And it's an Endemol production, which is Dutch, so. I think the 'excitement' is that all the balls come down at the contestants and they don't know if they'll get knocked down or not. People like tension like that, I guess.
