Hard water is better than soft water for the molecules to bond and create the carbonation. Better yet, run the water through some carbon filters. In that kind of setup the hot water tank water is non potable. Also I think you’re underestimating just how hot the water in a water heater is, I doubt you’re gonna get a whole lot of bacteria and stuff growing in nearly boiling water

Just drop off a dumpster container in someones front yard, they do all the manual labor work, then you just pick it up haul it to the dump. Spend your whole day goin to like 10 different houses, pickin up and dropping off. I got a dumptruck, mainly hauling dirt and gravel. I've hauled garbage a buncha times before, but then my truck smells like trash and people look at me weird when their sand I deliver smells like a landfill haha.

The heat can act as a breeding ground for bad bacteria, making the tank an unclean container. Also, this post makes me a comment leaver after 20+ years of consuming RT and now regulation content and never once posting.

Goes to explain that when left open, the chlorine in the water begins to evaporate, and that's why you see the bubbles in the water. As for boiling water Geoff, boiling kills any organisms there, however, it doesn't get rid of lead or other metals. Those stay because they don't die or evaporate away. Boiling water doesn't always make water potable
