Last XM Price Update
Added 2024-05-15 20:46:41 +0000 UTCThis is the final post regarding the XM pricing error. You have all been so unbelievably kind about it but I have felt terrible it happened and have been doing all I can to correct it.
-Update 1
To this point we have been happily giving refunds to those who subscribed for a year at the incorrect price and reached out. Unfortunately we will no longer be able to offer those due to the fact Patreon has a design flaw. Some thoughtful comment leavers have alerted us that after being fully refunded when they went to resubscribe for a year at the reduced price it granted them a free year on top of the refund. This is a system error due to the fact the changing tier price tool is new and the refund system isn't designed with the thought of the patron returning. It's frustrating the system works that way and am sorry we can no longer provide that solution. If you are upset about the situation email me personally at andrewdouglaspanton@gmail.com and I'll work with you to do whatever I can to make things right.

When I reduced the price emails were sent out incorrectly stating that yearly subscribers would pay the increased price again in 2025. This is not the case and is incorrect phrasing in the email template. When your subscription renews in 2025 it will do so at the current correct price. I talked to people on the Patreon team to confirm this.
-Update 3
To those who are month to month due to how Patreon is designed it will charge at the $15 amount one last time next month. After that it will register the correct price going forward. I have reached out to Patreon to see if this can be modified and have been told it's impossible. So if you want to avoid one last extra $5 dollar payment you may want to cancel right before it resubscribes and then sub back.
I'm so sorry for the massive headache this has caused. Everyone has been beyond kind and supportive about it but I definitely feel like I let both the team and community down. Know I'm working as hard as I can to make things right and I promise to do better. Thank you for your patience, kindness and understanding.

You guys have made such an impact on this community that not only did they follow you to a new platform without question but were more than happy to donate the extra. Of all the communities I'm apart of, this is the kindest, funniest and most inclusive one of all. I'd pay the hell out of that.

Judging by the majority of the comments I have seen, throughout this situation, I think that we were all more than willing to pay the $15/month (otherwise we could have selected a lower tier). You're going above and beyond to make this up to people who, I don't think, are nearly as upset about this happening as you've made yourself, for accidentally doing it...and that's just it, it was an accident. Thank you so much for personally trying to do right by the community. But, also, don't beat yourself up, too much. This shit is new to a lot of us. We all love you, and Gavin, and Geoff, and Nick....and maybe even Eric...more than enough to let you have a pass on this. Eric may not be giving you a presidential pardon on the YouTube channel mix up, but 99% (if not every one of us) will surely forgive you this, when we're willing to pay the extra, anyway.

SO MANY creators use Patreon as a bait-and-switch tip jar, where they promise additional rewards but fail to deliver. I'm talking bonus content that never gets made, discords with no moderation, and Q&A's with no A's. Mistakes happen and I'm really encouraged by the transparency. It takes a lot of guts to admit to a mistake like this, and it gives me a lot of faith in the operation going forward. I can tell that you genuinely care about us and our satisfaction in supporting you.

After the decrease I immediately upgraded, so this doesn't directly affect me. That said, it was an honest misclick of a mistake. Don't beat yourself over it. There's solutions that you're implementing and that rules. Honesty and transparency is the way and no one can be mad for that. We're all here for you 5 at the end of the day, and sometimes people push the wrong button.

2024-05-15 20:55:17 +0000 UTCWhile we’re talking money, a question in regards to potential merchandise, I know Eric and Geoff have spoken before about preorders, now you’re going to be making things somewhat independently would you be able to essentially put items up for sale with a cut off date so people can buy the item(at full price), and after the cut off date you know how many to order to fulfil the orders so you can make the right amount and not risk over ordering items that may not sell but everyone who wants the thing can get it, or does that get too close to the legalities of preorders?
