I'm not really happy with the water ripples around his hand... it's not the effect I want, but I don't know how to achieve what I want without making it messy, so I will stop at this point. I had to fiddle with the values quite a bit before I could dive into it. Remember, the sky is almost always the lightest part of an illustration (except for night times) or the picture would look too flat.
I feel the clouds are a bit flat looking but... I really hate clouds too, I think I have to put this down before I go nuts, lol.
I will soon attempt a draft or a pass at the first chapter, so keep your eyes peeled for that!!
