Full Res Genshin illustrations + compositional notes
Added 2021-08-06 22:00:00 +0000 UTCSome full res fan arts I did for Genshin! I will do more of these, I find them very helpful to exercise how I see colour and composition.
I've also added a simple explanation of what my mind saw before I started painting each picture. It's very important to see the overall composition in the simplest terms before you start an illustration, otherwise you will easily get bogged down by the details, and become too overwhelmed. You want to have a good foundation to build your details on; not start with details from the get go.
There are people who can easily see values, but I am not one of those talented folks. I always have a greyscale layer to check my values with while I'm illustrating. Ever since I added that step into my process, I personally feel my illustrations have been brought up to another level!
I think these ones can still be pushed farther in terms of the values, but since these were essentially studies, I didn't spend any more time than I did. Just something I will keep in mind for future studies.
