Mako got a part time job as a maid for a rather wealthy benefactor. She was known for her art collection and while it wasn't her usual thing, she was rather desperate for money.
She didn't quite read the fine print on the contract. Her fate is left to interpretation for you. (I would like to hear your ideas as I have mine)
