Thanks to the help of a very generous friend, I managed to get my hands on some obscure ass artbooks by some of my favorite artists and inspirations. Not only are these hard to find, but they usually go for a liver and an eyeball. However, I got these for like a 10th of the price maniacs and zealots ask for them online. Truly, a W on several levels.

For the uninitiated, Boris Vallejo is an illustrator from Peru who made it big from his fantasy illustrations, specifically for illustrated publications of Edgar Rice Burroughs books and his works for Wizards of the Coast and Blizzard. He also did works in DC, Marvel, and (from what I discovered him first) 2000 A.D. covers. His “fantastical realism” is something I admire and take inspiration from.
Michael Kaluta I first discovered when reading “Books of Magic” published by Vertigo Comics, back when comics were good. Despite me not being a super fan of Art Nouveau, he makes it look damn good. Maybe its the touch of Art Deco mixed with his love for occultism and sci-fi fantasy. Gud shiet.
And of course, the man, the myth, the legend; Frank Frazetta. What can I say about him that hasn’t been said? His elevated sense of fantasy, color, and composition are like a huge tit that I suck from every day.

If you guys are ever curious, these are the people that I get inspiration from amongst many other artist I have in high regard, both modern and classic. If you ever look into them, you’ll see how my stuff reflects my appreciation for them. Needless to say, I’ll be going over these to see what I can learn from them this time around. In a future occasion, if you guys want, I can sit down and discuss my favorite artists and what/why I like them.
