I'm working on catching up with this series, but I wanted to say: I think it's fun how the flashlight in this game really shows off what era it's from, since it uses vertex lighting instead of per-pixel lighting! The flashlight in Silent Hill 3 also did this since I believe you played a PS2 version of it, whereas the PC versions of it and SH2 make use of per-pixel lighting for the flashlights, creating a more realistic behaviour :)

2024-11-29 21:11:24 +0000 UTCThe hazard course basically teaches the wrong lesson about ladders - it says to walk backwards to go down, but it's much easier to just look in the direction you want to go and press forwards at all times as others have suggested. It also really confuses people with the long jump mechanic. It's amazing how much Valve and other devs improved the way to teach the player about how to play by the time Half-Life 2 was finished.

2024-11-29 07:34:08 +0000 UTCI remember Source ladders were always a bit janky, best to think of them as a sticky wall you run at that slides you up or down based on your camera. Pressing back will just make you jump off the ladder. Also pressing the numbers might be a bit quicker for the weapon swapping; I never got a hang of the scrollwheel and always ended up picking the wrong weapon.

2024-11-28 14:59:01 +0000 UTCHahaha damn ladders 😂 If you move forward while on the ladder and use the camera to look up or down, you should move up and down accordingly, if I’m not mistaken. Also, I wanted to ask: if I’m not able to watch an entire video right away, then what is more benificial to your statistics? To watch the full video at a later time or to watch the video as soon as it comes out but in parts?
