I find it personally incredibly interesting and effective as a horror movie just because the more nightmarish scenes could just as well be taken straight out of my own nightmares I had when I was in a medically induced coma in the ICU for 2 weeks as a kid. Absolutely fascinating film, I get why it doesn't hit for everyone but for me it really does!

If I'm not mistaken, Jacob's Ladder drew inspiration from the work of Francis Bacon and Hieronymus Bosch. Definitely getting those vibes in SH2&3 as well. Very cool.

2024-11-11 00:59:24 +0000 UTCI think post SH3 is a pretty good spot to take a break from the series (and horror like you said). One can make an argument for SH4 and Shattered Memories (difficult to play since it does not have a PC release), the rest are not well regarded and are better off skipped.
