Subnautica [8]

Sorry that this episode is a bit messy at the start, I tried to edit it so that my ramblings made sense, I was just gathering supplies as I was talking but don't think I ever said so lol. As a heads up I have filmed ahead by one episode so wont address any tips received during this episode in the next one, hopefully it will be out by EoD tomorrow or Monday.

Something I forgot to address in the update/thank you post: an apology for the lack of streams! I was busy and didn't want to start the DLC for the Witcher or start up Zelda or Alien on YouTube and then have a big break which I think may have lead to people assuming I was abandoning it.

I am going to stream some indie horror on Twitch and edit them for YouTube as a test on the reception to that kind of content, I know people hate on edited streams hahaha, but for now I just don't have time and I am so bloody nervous for YouTube streams. I may host a private or unlisted stream and send an invite link here to just sort out all those audio issues and have a chill chat with you all and get used to YouTube streaming.

I also have no idea what to name this episode, hmmm.

it was done on a voting system originally so that more popular capsules would get deployed first (no idea how it is done now), you can still see some of the oldcapsules here https://subnautica.unknownworlds.com/time-capsules they were a really clever/cool way of adding player interaction, there's so many beautiful areas in the game to show your exploration or your awesome base etc

Smallg

Oh, really? Huh... do you happen to know when they stopped doing that? (I have a feeling my time capsule didn't get added, then, since I first played a couple years ago)

Tormuse

its sad but understandable that they have since stopped adding in new time capsules so mine and many others time capsules sadly never got added

Mr cateyes

Video title is obvious. "Third time's the charm." :D Regarding time capsules, as you deduced, they're left behind by other players. I think the devteam chooses which ones to include in the game, but I'm not exactly sure how it works. I'm pretty sure the one with the weird number in the title is just the auto-generated title if the player didn't choose one. Regarding the cave system inside the giant mushroom tree, you might find it helpful to build the "pathfinder tool." It's in your blueprints. And putting a base on the border of leviathan territory could be fun! Just put lots of windows, and it can be your leviathan observatory. :)

Tormuse

in regards to episode names, I feel like the two big subjects in the video were the Mushroom Woods and Seamoth no. 3.

Angela

Bendy and the Ink Machine has Amazing Visual/Graphic Arts

Pablo Santana

A name for this episode??How about |The Great Deku Tree/Dancing with a Reaper| ? 😂 😁

Watching you progress through the stages of the game is really entertaining. Seeing how you overcome the fear of the deep is fascinating. I particularly loved the moment when the PDA informs you that there are multiple leviathan-class lifeforms ahead and watching as your jaw drops. The PDA is truly your best friend & your worst enemy simultaneously. Loving the playthrough so far!

You should seriously consider building a scanner room and a certain HUD upgrade at this point. It is power-hungry but will make your resource scavenging chores so much easier. (I hope this is not too spoilery...)

ignit0r

While just outside the Degassi habitat again, you were literally staring at the last Modification Station scan part you need! I was screaming at the screen, "JUST SEE IT!!!!!", lol. You're awesome. One of these days I'm going to stitch together and post Gab Smolder's Seamoth Rescue mission in its entirety, literally the most EPIC Seamoth loss ever!!

Perry Wolf

I detest the Crash Zone. I went there once my first time playing looking for a specific fragment (which I didn't find), and then never again, with the exception of Creative Mode. I was stuck there for at least one in-game day slowly navigating my way back to a safe area with my lights off, using only sonar (my favorite Seamoth upgrade). I miraculously avoided all the Reapers, but had to keep stopping and parking to not be noticed. I was also probably being a bit paranoid, but yeah, a stressful experience to say the least.

Ryan Williams

o7 for Seamoth No. 2, you will always be remembered... Also you should take another trip to the mushrook forest, there's some cool stuff there to find yet ;)

Hudson Ornelas

There's also one PDA outside the habitat nearby that I don't think you've found yet

I had to go back and re-watch the parts where you scrolled through your blueprints to make sure this advice is non-spoilery: - Try to move away from solar power now that you have a moonpool. When you dock your Seamoth, it'll drain your base's power in order to recharge its power cells. If your base loses power, it stops producing breathable air, and your fabricator (and other tools) stop working. Thermal's a great choice, but not in the Safe Shallows, so I'd recommend a bio reactor. Feed it a steady diet of fish and it'll keep your base powered around the clock. While out cruising around in No. 3, keep an eye on the thermometer and make note of places that hit 50 C or above--those are good spots for thermal-powered outposts. - Make bleach using the coral tube samples that are littered all around the drop pod. Find one of those coral tubes you can literally swim through, whack it with your hot knife till it turns white, and then combine the samples with salt. This'll spare you from having to hunt bladderfish to make fresh-squeezed water. - I wouldn't fret too much about Cyclops blueprints just yet. Having one will definitely help later on, but for now I'd focus on making a PRAWN suit and making additional Seamoth upgrades (like the perimeter defense system in particular). The perimeter defense upgrade will help ensure you don't need to make a Seamoth number four if you happen to go back to the Aurora crash site. Anyways, watching your Subnautica playthrough made me pull the trigger on it and the sequel and I've been hopelessly addicted to both ever since. Keep up the good work!

Andrew

Soma is amazing.

The Mighty Pipe

The Reaper's roar is sonar. If you can hear it, it sees you!

David Langston

Yes, Time capsules are left by other players. And yes, you did still miss something outside of the habitat in the Jelly mushroom cave, some fragments you'll be happy to have.

Marquie Minx

I don't remember if that's ever revealed in-game, but your character is Ryley Robinson, Non-Essential Systems Maintenance Chief of the Aurora, and hair gel aficionado. And the “notes to self” PDA entry actually belongs to somebody else (you found it in the Aurora), although, since Yu was CTO, Ryley probably did know her too. The Reaper (and I think most leviathans) is attracted to sound, so seamoths and to a lesser extent seaglides are basically bait. Oh, one funny thing about the seamoth storage module, depending on which module slot you put it on, the physical location of the module on the seamoth changes. You can try all 4 slots and see which you like best. And on the previous video, I commented on YT recommending you try the thermal power generator. Since you may not be looking at YT comments, I'm writing it again here 😸 Thermal generates a ton of power, bringing it back to the base is a bit of work but it's also fun, definitely recommended. The episode should probably be “Finally the moonpool” I guess? Or if you want to avoid spoilers, “Amber goes through Seamoths like candy” 😹

Lalo Martins

I think you should be proud of yourself for the consistency of your uploads so far this year, you're absolutely smashing it.

Mark

Also for more obscure titles; I recommend In Sound Mind, Corpse Party, Mists of Aiden :)

Adam

All very good ones! I always recommend Visage, Madison, Darkwood, and Soma. I think they still fit the 'indie' genre.

Adam

Amber: has plan Reaper: LOL nope!

Alex B

Carful, when you start naming them you might get attached.

Rogue Variable

“Why would anyone go in here, this is crazy”….goes back in again….”why did I come in here again, I’m going to die!”….goes back in a third time. ROFL I love the dedication to exploration.

Rogue Variable

As soon as the episode started and Amber was like "I'm gonna go on the other side of the Aurora", I was almost screaming like "Oh no! OH NO!" because I've been writing commets for like 4 episodes like "DO NOT DO THAT, that is the worst thing you could be doing right now", and yeah, she almost immediately lost the Seamoth. ^^

Goblinounours

Ahahaha please don't report me 😭

Sym

Ok, who’s going to call the Seamoth Preservation Society?

Rogue Variable

You have now experienced how I lost my first seamoth. I was pretty much frozen in fear as well when it happened 😃 And yay, you got the moonpool! This brings so much new fun stuff as you have already seen. And a small tip: you should be able to build a fabricator and radio inside your base using the habitat builder, so you don't have to rely on the lifepod any more. Edit: copied this comment to Youtube as well to feed the mighty algorithm 🍽️

Trolez

The moonpool is a game changer. Unlocks so much cool stuff. Most importantly, of course, the ability to customise your seamoth colours :)

Mark Robson

On my list are: chillas art, fears to fathom, midnight scenes, I'm on observation duty! Please feel free to recommend any more! 😊

Sym

Thanks, something to watch while trying to sleep :D As i don't use Twitch, i hope you upload those streams on YT.

sundmark67

Ooo which indie horror?

Adam

A true scientist there, screaming in panic at the reaper, but with scanner in hand trying to learn more 😂

kruthie

yay! looking forward to the streams and no worries for not doing them recently! that unlisted stream thing sounds like a good idea to sort everything out before trying a full stream, you'll nail it tho i'm sure!
