Under Pressure - Shot 2 - Nuzzlin'
Added 2020-09-23 05:13:19 +0000 UTCI've been working on this one for weeks, but it's finally at place where I feel good about showing this next shot from Under Pressure!
This shot, like the hands shot, was quite the challenge. It was originally supposed to be a still, but... well, I got it in my head that I could so some small subtle animation, and doomed myself.
You'd think bigger, more dramatic animation would be harder, but noooo, it's these slow, subtle motions that sneak up on you and punch you in the animator gut.
Additionally, I had to do quite a bit of drawing (though admittedly, Cyberunique helped me quite a bit...).
This shot is essentially a close up and cropped panel from the first page of the original comic. As you can, in the original panel, Asuka is in a completely different position (and some details, like the uniform neck tie thingy are off model).
This shot made heavy use of a new setup / technique I've been developing over the last couple of shots in Under Pressure and in Voyage for Poon. It lets me work on the auxillary animation for each puppet piece in an much easier fashion.
Also, the source images for this shot are also HUGE, especially since this shot pans from left to right. The render was maxing out my computers 64gb of RAM...
