Under Pressure - ED Shot

If you tuned into the live stream last Thursday, you'll have seen the beginnings of this shot. It's the background animation for the credit roll, mimicking the classic Neon Genesis Evangelion credit roll.
Now, I could've gone with a simple credit roll on black, or playing over some of the main animation, but that's just not good enough. Much like the opening title card, I really wanted the animated version to have something much more reminiscent of Evangelion.
After playing around for a while in After Effects, painting a moon in Krita, and modeling out some Asuka hair on an anime base mesh, we find ourselves with this beauty. Almost all of water animation is procedural, which I'm particularly proud of, and I'll do another post later going into more detail on how I pulled it off!
It still needs a bit of tweaking in the compositing (I think I've made it too dark), but overall the animation came out better than I could've hoped!
Now I just need to find someone to write some music vaguely reminiscent of "Fly Me to the Moon"...
