Under Pressure - Shot 3 - Hands are Evil

Pretty proud of this one! Despite how simple this looks, it was one of the hardest to adapt (so far).

First, I grabbed the shot form the original comic.

I was pretty apprehensive about tackling this one. Unlike most of the animations I do, this one is much more... organic? It's not a usual person rig or the thrusting motion I'm used to animating. Plus I had no way to find any real reference of similar animation... I know I've seen it in anime before, but finding the shot is another matter all together.

So I just jumped into it and started preparing the image for animation.

So.... yeah. I just wasn't feeling this. Plus something I couldn't identify was off... and then I figured it out. Hikari's hand is wrong. In the original comic, Asuka's left hand is on top Hikari's left hand, but for them to be positioned like they are in the comic (Asuka on top of Hikari), that should be Hikari's right hand.

Which means.... (gulp)... drawing.

It took me 2 weeks. I redrew this so many times. Hands are evil.

But I'm pretty happy with the result! Once I had the look down, I pulled it all into After Effects and worked some animation magic.
