Things are moving along nicely in the cottage.
The beams and Aga parts were all sand blasted last weekend and the interiors are starting to be fitted out with stud walls and insulation. We are currently debating wether to replace the beams’ as they are a mixture of rotten oak and chestnut which was uncovered when they were cleaned up. They are also very uneven so laying the new floor boards will be difficult. Sean has been in touch with a saw mill in the local area to see about sourcing some new oak ones. If the price is good we will replace them for much better ones which will make the building and floors much stronger.
Yesterday evening me and dad went to pick up some cast iron radiators, and it just so happens the guy selling them was a plumber and has agreed to install them... so that’s the heating sorted! The radiators were €20 each so a real bargain.
The oak panelling should arrive next week so we’re having to move fast so it isn’t left lying around waiting for installation.
Very happy with the progress and will keep you updated behind the scenes as to what’s going on in between YouTube videos.
All the best,
Michael xxx
