An update on my latest YouTube video.
Added 2020-08-17 17:46:15 +0000 UTCI have just deleted my latest video on YouTube and will have to re edit and upload later tonight.
I was so inspired by the English countryside and wanted to use a fitting piece of English music for the final closing scene. I chose Edward Elgar’s nimrod variations and found a company that licences recording for commercial use. YouTube is very strict about use of copyrighted recordings and although the piece of music is in the public domain, individual recordings are still subject to copyright.
The track cost me €60 to licence and I received a receipt as proof of my right to use the track.
YouTube’s automatic music detection system mistook it for a similar recording owned by The Readers digest and licences through a company called orchard music.
While there is a copyright dispute on a YouTube video they are meant to continue to show ads on the video, but hold the money until it is resolved, but I so far have not seen an advert on the video so will receive no revenue for it. It’s very disappointing as the ad revenue from the video was meant to help fund the trip.
Just wanted to let you guys know as some people have asked why there were no ads on the video.
I will re upload the video tonight with hopefully a new piece of fitting music at the end.
Hope you are all well wherever you are in the world.
