HOW SOLOS AND HATERS HAVE DICTATED FANS’ LANGUAGE AND HOW WE SHOW SUPPORT

Going live later April 16, 7pm Pacific

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hu8IZ3XcJ7E&ab_channel=AsianEntertainmentandCulture

As BTS’ comeback nears and as I think about the chapter 1 and 2, it has become increasingly necessary for us to be aware of how haters and toxic solo/shippers, have dedicated our language and how we support our favorite groups and its members solo projects.

I will personally stop “avoiding” their wrath and will say things the best way I know how and whoever gets offended can tune out.

Jealousy isn't pretty. Especially when you're using someone else (i.e. pretending to be a "fan") to disguise it.

Was on X today blocking not responding to the haters about Jin touring. I understand someone might have a fave but why attack who your fave loves. They are brothers.

I agree with most of what you've said, with the addition that the KPOP trainee system is the old Hollywood trainee system on steroids. They learned it from west, and are taking it to an 11. Back in the day, many potential stars were put through a studio training system, Judy Garland being one of the more famous graduates of MGM. The Mickey Mouse club also found, trained, and presented young stars on their shows. Motown found talent and trained them to present themselves in a polished, non-threatening way to white audiences. So in an ironic way, the system that was born in the west is being adopted again, decades later. Sort of a full circle moment.

To my knowledge, the term “Kpop” originated from overseas to describe solely Korean Idol music industry. Because idol music/gerne was mostly consumed outside of Korea. Even general Korean public can’t describe what Kpop is exactly but often don’t take seriously when something is labeled as Kpop. Korean views “Kpop” as more of export marketing strategy. This view is now changing since the BTS effect on overseas! Basically now the word “Kpop” reflects Korean IDOL+culture+lifestyle+trend+history. I personally consider Kpop idols as modern days of supermodels. The most of Kpop idol industry is casting potential supermodels who can do singing+dancing+performing+modeling+acting to maximize their profits/earnings from all possible projects. Even it creates all kinds of jobs, trends and able to experiment new ideas. The business concentrates on marketing the perfectly polished idols. It’s a very competitive and fast paced industry! In my opinion, there is Kpop (idol) industry and Korean entertainment industry. What separates these two industry? One develops the trainee system and casting youngsters only accordingly. Do you agree?
