According to industry sources on April 4, during the first hearing of the "Confirmation of Validity of Exclusive Contract" at Seoul Central District Court Civil Division 41 on April 3, the presiding judge asked the defendant NewJeans side, "Regarding Defendant 4," and confirmed "whether this means that the family court has made a decision on parental rights exercise and has ratified all litigation actions until now."

Currently, two NewJeans members, Hyein and Haerin, are minors. It appears that there was a disagreement between one member's parents regarding the exercise of parental rights for the exclusive contract termination lawsuit, and this issue had to be resolved through family court proceedings.

For minors, parents jointly exercise parental rights, and the defect in representation rights indicates that parents disagree on the contract termination, highlighting the need to resolve this issue. At the time, the law firm Sejong representing NewJeans responded, "There was a hearing (at family court) yesterday, and a conclusion should be reached by next week at least," adding "Once concluded, we will submit it, and there should be no special issues."

The court pointed out that "According to civil procedure law, corrections should be made, but defects have not been corrected until now." This means that due to disagreement between the minor member's parents, they couldn't jointly exercise parental rights regarding the exclusive contract termination lawsuit.

However, based on the mention in court on April 3 that "a decision was made on parental rights exercise and litigation actions have been ratified until now," it can be inferred that the authority of the parent who opposed the lawsuit was restricted, and the lawsuit proceeded according to the opinion of the parent who agreed.
