HYBE CEO: "Adore Incident, Principle-Based Response… Results Are Coming Out"
Added 2025-03-31 19:09:00 +0000 UTCHive CEO Jaesang Lee stated on the 31st regarding the 'Adore incident' that has continued for about a year, "The results of responding according to principles are coming out."
According to the music industry, the CEO gave this answer at the Hive regular shareholders' meeting held in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the morning of that day when asked, "What are the plans to strengthen Hive's governance in relation to the Adore incident?"
The CEO said, "I said at last year's shareholders' meeting that it would take time, but I would respond one by one based on principles," and added, "I think the results are coming out one by one."
He explained, "We are firm in our belief in the value of multi-labels," and "By creating a multi-label system and attaching solution and platform business divisions, HYBE was able to grow into the world's fourth largest company in terms of market capitalization, following Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group. We believe there were many trials and errors and difficulties along the way, and we are currently correcting them."
Adore, Hybe's label, recently received a court order to grant an injunction to 'preserve the status of the agency and prohibit the signing of advertising contracts, etc.', which prohibits the independent activities of the girl group New Jeans. The first oral argument date for the main lawsuit, 'Confirmation of Validity of Exclusive Contract,' will be held on the 3rd of next month.

[Press Release]* There may be changes to current positions after updating personal information.
The CEO said that BTS, the iconic group whose entire members will be discharged from the military in June, will need time to resume full-scale activities.
The CEO said, "BTS members are scheduled to return after completing their military service at the end of the first half of this year, and they will need time to prepare and work for their activities after their return." He added, "The company is also discussing and preparing with top-tier composers, but the artists (BTS members) need to think carefully and prepare."
He continued, "Usually, we work on a song, release an album, and then go on a tour. However, since BTS has already become a global top artist, we are continuing to discuss their vision and 'next,' so we need to think about the direction and align with it."
The CEO also mentioned the debut of new artists in Japan and the establishment of a multi-label in the Latin region, and emphasized, "The multi-label we designed is gradually becoming more solid through various processes," and "We will focus on expanding the solidified multi-label system globally and establishing 'multi-home, multi-genre'."

The multi label system worked to their advantage in the Mama Roach Old Shorts situation in my opinion because they were able to quickly contain it and minimize the impact on other companies. Had they been all one company I think it would have been more difficult to contain, isolate, and minimize the damage to other artists.

2025-03-31 22:56:21 +0000 UTCThe content from Hybe is so mature in a world gone nuts. It's nice to see a company standing on principle, with the law, and not abusing their people nor their strength.
