New Jeans Denied A Family Member Is Poaching Them

Rumors are circulating that a family member of the group NewJeans (Minji, Hani, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) is helping them move to another agency.

On December 13, Money Today reported ongoing discussions within the industry about NewJeans potentially creating a separate company managed by their families.

The outlet also highlighted the legal community's stance that, if these rumors are true, such actions would constitute a breach of contract.

Previously, the members of NewJeans sent a certified letter to ADOR on November 14, demanding corrections to violations of their exclusive contract. The letter served as an ultimatum, stating that if ADOR failed to address the listed violations within 14 days of receipt, the exclusive contract would be terminated.

In the letter, the members clarified:

"There are groundless rumors involving the members' families and acquaintances, but NewJeans has nothing to do with these claims. We will respond firmly to those spreading false information and slandering NewJeans."

This marked the first official statement from the group regarding ongoing rumors that "NewJeans is leaving ADOR and receiving investment from Company D."

As these rumors resurface, attention is focused on whether NewJeans will issue an official statement.

Meanwhile, during an emergency press conference held on November 27, NewJeans declared that since ADOR had failed to address the contract violations within the 14-day period, they could no longer continue their activities under the agency. The members announced that their exclusive contract with ADOR would be terminated as of November 29.

Regarding their group name, NewJeans stated:

"After midnight tonight, the five of us may not be able to use the name NewJeans for the time being, regardless of our will. However, our essence as NewJeans will not disappear, and we have no intention of giving up the name."

They continued:

"For some, NewJeans may just be a name or a trademark issue, but for us, it is far more meaningful. The name symbolizes everything we have accomplished together since the day the five of us first met. We will work tirelessly to fully secure the rights to the name NewJeans."

Currently, NewJeans are continuing their scheduled appearances at events signed under ADOR. The agency also continues to refer to the group as ‘NewJeans’ in press releases highlighting their global chart achievements.
