The Lawsuit Filed By KG of VCHA Against JYP US

This is the actual lawsuit filed by KG of VCHA against JYP.

VCHA's contract is similar to many Hollywood contracts I've seen.

IF the statements are true as itemized by specific incidents, there are clear violations of labor laws, and though this is a 'civil' suit asking for compensations for damages, they mention fraud, neglect and child endangerment, which leads one to consider possible 'criminal' offenses particularly with the presence of hidden cameras. What could be on those recording devices and the possibility of use/misuse becomes suspect, especially as they become property of the employer. I can see the prosecutor being very concerned with this - and the suit does 'demand a trial by jury'. Hearsay is difficult to prove in court but If there are collaboration on these incidents by staff and other artists, the story specifics becomes more believable. Though the more easily 'provable' points are about monies owed. Claiming artists are essentially 'working for free' - questioning accounting of undisclosed deductions, obscure charges, transfer of artists earnings to fund elaborate stages, and lack of pay. I understand work ethics, but management of physical and emotional health is stressed heavily in both SK and the US, so withholding water, food, and supplement intentionally seems unlikely -- but disagreeing on time management, and allowed amounts is probable. I do think cultural differences in management styles, expectations, and process can play a roll in this situation, but the examples of inflicting emotional distress on minors sets off all kinds of warning bells. Yet in KM's statement, she expressed appreciation for what she learned, opportunities received and bonding with trainees so it seems she is more interested in getting out of the contract, clear her debt load, and move on. QUESTION #1 - In what ways could this negatively affect the kpop industry in the US, as it is now considered the 2nd largest kpop market. QUESTION #2 - As a US registered company working in the US, they are expected to abide by Federal and State laws, which includes conveying to their staff the full scope of the law particularly regarding their behavior and actions. And if artists are viewed as partners rather then employees as in SK, that burden is shared, BUT as the plaintiff is a minor, is the accountability stronger on the employer, as well as the adult staff?

This is so terrible. Is this really how training is normally conducted, or is this a singular case? I hope spoilt pantaloons reads this and finally understands the actual meaning of abuse!! It's also concerning that the contract is practically standard in Hollywood, as Fairlane says. I'm glad she's standing up for herself. THIS is the case that people should be supporting and applauding, not spoilt pantaloons. This is a young girl who's truly, actually fighting against a corrupt system.
